IIM Amritsar is mentored by IIM Kozhikode. Although the 1st batch of IIM Amritsar has 45 students, the 2nd batch with 105 students is the largest among all the newest IIMs. The successful completion of Placement 2017 at IIM Amritsar reflects its industry and corporate acceptability.
Major brands like E&Y, KPMG, GroupM, ICICI Lombard, Pidilite, Dell, Emami, Finacus, Safe Express, Azure Power, Dish TV and Motilal Oswal participated in Placement 2017 at IIM Amritsar making more offers.
Key placement trends
The highest domestic package offered at IIM Amritsar final placement was Rs. 17 lakhs per annum. The average package offered stood at Rs. 10.26 lakhs per annum.
50 recruiters making 48 offers to 44 students
The placement season for the maiden batch of 44 students who participated in placement witnessed a participation of more than 50 companies rolling out 48 offers in the domains of Sales & Marketing, Finance, General Management, Strategy & Operations, Consulting & Analytics, and Digital Marketing.
The fact that many students of the very first batch received PPOs, stands a testimony to the strong edifice of IIM Amritsar and also reflects on the depth of the calibre of the first batch.
Summer Placement over for the 2nd batch 2016-18
The 2nd batch size of IIM Amritsar has increased from 45 students to 105 and is almost twice that of the other 3G IIMs like IIM Nagpur, IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Bodhgaya which started their operations in 2015.
IIM Amritsar not only achieved 100% placements but in the process, also recorded a Y-O-Y growth of a whopping 49.6% in terms of average stipend to INR 49,680 and highest being INR 1.1 lakhs.
A total of 121 offers were made to 104 students with 51 companies recruiting for multiple roles such as Consulting, Sales and Marketing, Finance, General Management, Ops and HR. Some of the major recruiters were Ernst & Young, ICICI Lombard, RBI, Adani Group, SBI DLF Pramerica, Maruti and Shopclues among others. E&Y, stood out as the largest recruiter making a total of 20 offers. With increase in the batch size from 45 to 104 as compared to the previous year, the Institute saw a remarkably improved placement performance with better offers and an increase of 49% in the average stipend.
Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Director (In-charge), Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode & Mentor Director, IIM Amritsar, said, Increasing the batch intake from 49 to 105 in the second year of inception, had its own challenges. There were lot of speculations regarding this move but we strongly believed that with bigger batch strength, learning will be better, as this increases competitive nature among them. Perseverance for hard work and zeal to succeed among the student fraternity along with the strong support from IIM K, the mentor institution, made this giant leap possible. The resounding success of this placement season stands testimony to the student quality of the institute.
