After your official GMAT score is released, you can send it to up to five programmes for free if you do so within 48 hours; each additional official score report then costs USD 35. A GMAT score is valid for five years from the test date for MBA admission in India and abroad. This long validity lets you take the GMAT early — even in your final year of graduation — and use the same score for applications across the five-year window, subject to each programme's specific deadlines.

GMAT is valid for some two-year MBA programmes in India, but with limits. For the flagship two-year programmes at the IIMs, FMS and XLRI, Indian residents must take CAT or XAT — GMAT is generally accepted only from NRIs and foreign nationals. Many private B-schools, however, accept GMAT for their two-year PGDM from domestic candidates.

GMAT score targets for top Indian B-schools are indicative, not fixed cut-offs. Tier-1 programmes like ISB, SPJIMR and IIM executive routes broadly look for a GMAT Focus score of 680–750+, while Tier-2 schools such as MDI, IMI, IMT and Great Lakes typically expect 650–690, alongside work experience and a strong application.
