NMAT

The Quantitative Skills syllabus includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry, modern math, and data interpretation. Important topics include percentages, ratios, equations, probability, and graphs.

NMAT does not have a fixed official syllabus. However, candidates can prepare using commonly asked topics in each section based on previous year trends. The NMAT 2026 syllabus includes three sections—Language Skills, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Skills. Questions are based on commonly tested topics such as arithmetic, reasoning puzzles, and reading comprehension.

NMAT differs from CAT and XAT in that it has no negative marking, allows multiple attempts, and follows an adaptive format. It also provides flexibility in choosing section order, unlike CAT.

The Quantitative Skills section in NMAT includes questions from arithmetic, algebra, modern math, and data interpretation. The section typically has 36 questions and a time limit of 52 minutes.

There is no negative marking in NMAT 2026. Candidates are not penalised for incorrect answers or unattempted questions. While NMAT does not deduct marks for unattempted questions, leaving questions unanswered in an adaptive exam can affect the difficulty level of subsequent questions and lower your overall scaled score. So attempting all questions, or most of them, within the time limit is strongly recommended. To reiterate, NMAT is without negative marking exam and there is no negative marking exam in NMAT Exam.

The NMAT 2026 exam duration is 120 minutes. Each section has a fixed time limit—28 minutes for Language Skills, 52 minutes for Quantitative Skills, and 40 minutes for Logical Reasoning.
