PhD is the Doctoral Programme in Management at IIM Bodh Gaya. It is a full-time residential programme of four years. Inaugurated in the year 2020, The Ph.D. Programme of IIM Bodhgaya is a relatively new programme. Despite being in its nascent stage, the programme has managed to make significant strides forward and is constantly evolving in accordance with IIM Bodh Gaya vision and objective to assist the institute in becoming an international centre of excellence in management education. On successful completion of the programme, a student will be awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
The programme aims to foster high-quality researchers, innovative thinkers, and touchstone academics. The programme offers the chance to delve into multidisciplinary research in the domain of management education. Its purpose is to imbue learners with the necessary analytical and research skills required for a career in academics, management, and industry. IIM Bodh Gaya’s Ph.D. program admission is offered to the individuals with exceptional academic background, strong motivation, and discipline, and potential to become excellent researchers at international level. It is expected that research students will come from a variety of disciplines ranging from social sciences and humanities to physical sciences and engineering. Applicants are evaluated on their past academic achievements, motivation and preparation for the programme, letters of recommendation, scores on standard tests, and a personal interview with the faculty. - Submit application with required documents
- Take relevant Admission Entrance Test CAT/GATE/GRE/ GMAT/JRF (UGC/CSIR/or equivalent) to apply in the relevant area of specialization.
- The candidates will be short-listed on the basis of their academic record and performance in the entrance exams. The minimum overall cut off is 80 percentile and minimum sectional cut off is 70 percentile.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called to IIM Bodh Gaya for a personal interview for final selection. The PI process will be of two stages. The first stage will be of qualifying nature. Those who will qualify in the first stage, will be asked to appear in the second stage of the process. In the second stage, the selection panel will assess the suitability of the candidates for research work based on the portfolio of the candidate. The committee will look into a consistently good academic record, professional accomplishments, research interest, research aptitude
- Merit List will be prepared based on Personal Interview & Research Aptitude (second stage of PI), Academic Qualification and Relevant Work Experience.
- Successful candidates will receive offers by May end of that year
- A candidate receiving admission offer from IIM Bodh Gaya and accepting the offer within the stipulated date needs to send the commitment fee of Rs. 30,000 (The date of submission will be mentioned in admission offer letter) along with Offer Acceptance Form. The commitment fee will be adjusted against the caution/security deposit.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) offered at IIM Bodh Gaya is a 3 years full-time doctoral programme that offers research scholars opportunities for advanced studies and research in different areas of Management.

IIM Bodh Gaya Eligibility criteria for PhD admission are:
Academics: Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications to apply for IIM Bodh Gaya’s doctoral programme: Master’s degree in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average, or Professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average, or Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent, or Four Year/Eight Semester Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech./ B. Arch.) with at least 65 percent or equivalent
Entrance Test: Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria are required to take Common Admission Test (CAT). Alternatively, those who have qualified GATE, GRE, GMAT or JRF (UGC/CSIR/or equivalent) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization. The exam must have been taken during last three years.
Citizenship Requirement: Admission to the programme is open to Indian citizens only
Exemptions: Candidates who have already passed two year fulltime PGP completed in last 5 years from IIMs with minimum 60 percent marks or equivalent are exempted from the test score and can apply directly.
Age Limit: Candidate must not be more than 40 years

IIM Bodh Gaya will provide scholarships to full time Research Students (Ph.D.). It will cover all academic expenses (consisting of tuition, computer, library fees) and hostel fee.
Monthly Stipend of Rs. 32,800 will be provided till Comprehensive Exam and Rs. 35,400 Post Comprehensive Exam. After approval of Thesis proposal, the stipend will go up to Rs. 39,300 per month. Additional Financial Support of Rs. 25,000 per year towards Contingency Grant for 4 years will be provided and Rs.50,000 will be given towards one time Laptop Grant. Apart from this Rs. 1,75,000 towards Conference Grant will be given to attend national and international conferences.
