With the unanimous decision taken in the Cabinet meeting headed by none other than the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi himself on June 24, 2015, the speculation on permanent campus of IIM Bihar has ended as the premier B school is finally going to be set up at Bodhgaya in Bihar. Although at its temporary campus.

In an urgently called press conference at Old campus of IIM Ahmedabad on June 25, 2015, A. M. Naik, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Ahmedabad & IIMA society expressed his anguish and concern on the proposed IIM Bill 2015 which in his view aims to curb the autonomy of the premier B school and centralize the decision taking powers with MHRD.

Prof Ashish Nanda, Director IIM Ahmedabad has already shown his concern on IIM Bill 2015. In fact in its current form the IIM Bill 2015 is not acceptable to IIM Ahmedabad.

After keeping the post of full time Chairman of AICTE vacant for about 6 months, MHRD has finally announced the appointment of Dr Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe as the new Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) the regulatory body of higher and technical education in the country. At present Dr Sahasrabudhe is the Director and Secretary Board of Governors, College of Engineering Pune (COEP). Dr Sahasrabudhe will take over the charge of AICTE Chairman from July 2015 for a term of 3 years.

A look at the Global MBA rankings such as The Financial Times, The Economist and QS and we see how Singapore, China and Hong Kong are also securing their positions as global leaders for business and management education. While established destinations such as US and UK are firmly on top of the list, universities from Singapore, China and Hong Kong are also moving up few places in recent years.

Approved in the Cabinet meeting on June 24, 2015 all the proposed 6 new IIMs will now have an increased intake of 140 students in their maiden PGP batch 2015-17 instead of 60 as announced earlier. Apart from this the cities to establish these IIMs have also been finalized in the meeting.

CAT 2014 brought with it number of changes as well as last moment surprises. Now CAT 2015 is not going to lag behind. The largest MBA/PGDM entrance test of the country CAT 2015 proposes to bring many changes both at the operational level of convening the exam and in content part of the test.

The central site selection team was not much impressed with the earlier proposed 100+ acres Permanent campus site of IIM Amritsar at Awana and therefore chose to visit the alternate sites again on June 18, 2015. The team has selected and recommended the much nearer 60 acres site to main Amritsar city near Manawala.
