Improving academic diversity in IIM class rooms is the key motive behind introducing big changes in CAT 2015 exam to be held in 1 day 2 sessions on November, 29, 2015 at 650 testing sites in 136 cities. It is an effort to limit the dominance of more engineering graduates making it to IIMs due to which the CAT 2015 convening IIM Ahmedabad has proposed these changes in CAT 2015 exam pattern to increase academic diversity in IIM class rooms.

Providing a major relief to the CAT 2015 aspirants, IIM Ahmedabad, the CAT 2015 convening IIM has announced that all questions will carry equal marks and there are no negative marks for non-MCQ type questions. For the first time in the history of CAT, the short descriptive answer questions (Non MCQs) will appear in CAT 2015. Till there is no publication by CAT Centre 2015 for the benefit of aspirants, it may remain difficult to understand the probable pattern and type of these descriptive answer questions (Non MCQs) in CAT 2015.

Despite getting the new chairman Dr Anil D. Sahasrabudhe AICTE has not woken up to release notification for CMAT 2016 (first test). All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) the regulator of technical and management education in India had the legacy of announcing first CMAT for the academic session in the coming year as early as in the first week of July every year.

Till now CAT exam used to have only 2 sections. The first section contained questions on Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (Quant & DI) and the second section consisted of questions on Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension and Logical reasoning. Both the sections had equal number of questions and equal weightage. CAT 2015 however, is going to have 3 sections to be solved in 1 hour each.
