An MBA student of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, Vignesh Viswanathan, Class of 2017, won the second place under Best Presentation-Manufacturing category, for his presentation Process Design for Reducing Customer Returns of Castings at a workshop organized by Indian Statistical Institute, Coimbatore. Titled Smart Solutions to Wicked Problems, the workshop focused on statistical techniques for business process improvements and was held at Codissia Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore.

Bruges, a picturesque town with buildings dating back centuries, is a tourist destination now, but during the Middle Ages it was the most important trading center in northwest Europe. As a New Yorker, I had always believed that my city -- and the United States as a whole -- was going to remain at the center of the financial world forever. But after seeing Bruges, and other cities, such as Amsterdam, which were once the financial heart of the world, I realize that economic leadership is never permanent.

FACE, is named after Father Pedro Arrupe, who was the Superior General of the Society of Jesus from 1965 to 1983.

The theme of the summit is The New Frontiers of Technology: Consumer Internet, Wireless and Mobile. The summit will be held on November 17-18 at the IIM-K campus. This student-driven IT summit will bring together speakers from a mixture of start-ups and global leaders including Mr. Jaspreet Bindra, the Country Head of MSN India, Mr. Ananth Krishnan, VP and CTO of TCS, Mr. Lil Mohan the MD of the WiMax Divison at Intel, Mr. Romal Shetty who heads KPMGs Telecom division and Mr. Sandeep Shrivastav, the Director of Search at Yahoo! India during the Ecclesia, the session by eminent speakers.

The institute will be named Indus World School of Business (IWSB) and will be based in Greater Noida. IWSB will offer a Post Graduate Program in Business and a three-year Under Graduate Program in Management for academic session starting 2008. The institute will focus on entrepreneurship and providing career opportunities for its students. It has already tied up with twenty companies including Google and Naukri.com for placements.

Now that Indian IT industry and other knowledge enterprises are on rise, India can not repeat the mistakes of past. Thats the message from telecom czar Mr Sunil Mittal at CII Knowledge Management Summit, being held in New Delhi from Nov 14-16. Said Mr Mittal, India was a knowledge nation for centuriesbut we are bad as preserving our knowledge and heritage. We can not afford to kick off the current advantage we have.
