Mentored by IIM Bangalore, IIM Visakhapatnam is new generation IIM, which started its journey in 2015. Set up by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, IIM Visakhapatnam is an Institution of National Importance under the IIM Act 2017. The overarching goal of IIM Visakhapatnam is to attain standards of global excellence in management.
Despite beginning its journey few years ago, IIMV has crossed several milestones and is maintaining a distinct lead. IIM Visakhapatnam is ranked #29 in Govt of India, MHRD, NIRF Ranking 2023-Management, among top 125 B-schools.
IIM Visakhapatnam has a consistent record of 100% placements. IIM Visakhapatnam completed final placement 2024 for its large batch of 272 students with an average salary of Rs.15.61 LPA and Median Salary of Rs.15.50 LPA for the graduating 8th batch of MBA 2022-24. Highest salary stood at Rs. 43.25 LPA. 43 students received PPOs. BFSI sector hired maximum number of 34% students in the placement season for the batch 2022-24.
IIM Visakhapatnam offers 2 year full time residential MBA degree granting PGP program; 2 Years blended mode Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA); 2 Years Part Time Post Graduate Program for Experienced Professional (PGPEx); 2 Years Post Graduate Program in Digital Governance and Management (PGPDGM); 5 years full time Doctoral Program (PhD); 1 year full time Post Doctoral Fellowship Program (PDF) among other Management programs. IIM Visakhapatnam PGP admission is through CAT exam score. IIM Visakhapatnam conducts its own final selection personal interview (PI) round.
Permanent campus of IIM Visakhapatnam is under construction at 241 acre land. Presently IIMV is operating Andhra University premises.

Accounting for 34% placements, IIM Visakhapatnam witnessed BFSI sector emerging as the largest recruiting sector, followed by IT & Consulting with 31% share in placement; Manufacturing with 12% share in placement; Logistics with 7% placement and the other sectors including FMCG, Retail, Healthcare, Real Estate & Construction, Telecom etc with 16% share in placement 2024.
