Admission Process for Candidates for MBA at IIM Calcutta is through CAT. The admission of the candidates for admission to the MBA at IIM Calcutta is a two-step process:
In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. Detailed Admission process is as below:
- The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for PI round which is conducted in many cities
- Candidates are shortlisted from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme
- After the PI round, IIM Calcutta will award weightages to various parameters and admission offers are made by IIM Calcutta to successful candidates.
- The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in PI round, academics, diversity, work experience among others
IIM Calcutta MBA curriculum has a two-tier structure. It consists of a core curriculum (compulsory credit courses and compulsory non-credit courses), a summer internship (compulsory industry training between first and second year) and elective courses (optional courses in the second year).The first year is committed to developing business fundamentals through compulsory courses spanning the areas of economics, finance, marketing, operations, systems and organizational behavior. The second year offers more number of electives than any other B-School in India, the flexibility ensuring that a student never makes a compromise with his desired area of pursuit. Students aspiring to delve deeper into topics can undertake term papers under faculty supervision.
MBA Curriculum: First Year

- For IIM Calcutta MBA admission, the applicant should Register and apply for CAT exam by paying the requisite application fee for the exam.
- On the page 4 of CAT application form, you need to select IIM Calcutta MBA and other programs and select the interview city.
- Your application for IIM Calcutta admission is submitted.
- You do not need to apply and pay separately for IIM Calcutta Admission.
- After declaration of CAT exam result, you can check at IIM Calcutta website whether you are shortlisted by entering your CAT registration ID and password
- IIM Calcutta MBA Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- The candidate should appear in CAT exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to be considered for shortlisting.
- Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for Admission.
- All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to IIM Calcutta
- For the candidates who have appeared in PI-WAT round, a composite score for final selection will be derived using the parameters and the corresponding weights as given below. This composite score will be used for preparation of category-wise merit list for final selection.
