CAT 2020 Notification was released on July 29 along with the launch of official CAT 2020 website. CAT Exam Testing Mode will remain same. However, IIM Indore has cautioned that all dates are subject to COVID 19 situation.

Joining the likes of large corporates like Reliance and HCL, US$ 19.4 billion Mahindra Group has launched Mahindra University (MU) Hyderabad on July 24. It is part of the Mahindra Educational Institutions, a not-for-profit subsidiary of Tech Mahindra. MU was notified by the Government of Telangana vide an Ordinance dated 20th May 2020.

Spread across 130-acre campus in Hyderabad, MUwill offer undergraduate, post graduate and PhD courses in Management, Law and other areas from 2021. MU already includes the Ecole Centrale School of Engineering that was set up in 2014.

There are few Leaders and even fewer Institution Builders in any sector or industry. So is the case with higher education and management education. One of the very few true Institution Builders in Indian Management Education is Prof J Philip. In his career spanning more than 60 years, he helped turnaround IIM Bangalore in 1980s, conceptualized and launched B-school association AIMS, and set up XIME group of institutions from scratch in early 1990s. While growth in management education has stagnated in last decade, XIME Bangalore successfully expanded into Chennai and Cochin.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, CAT 2020 aspirants were worried whether CAT testing mode would change from Computer-based At-center exam to an Internet-based At-home exam on the pattern of  Global MBA entrance exams like GRE and GMAT which successfully took that route in March and April this year and are still offering At-home test option to candidates all over the world, including India. 

COVID 19 has disrupted the higher education landscape – posing many challenges to education delivery and assessment. All eyes are on IIM Indore, one of the top six IIMs in India, that is conducting CAT 2020 exam. Aspirants and other MBA stakeholders are asking how will IIM Indore plan and run CAT 2020 -- Will they postpone the exam, make changes in format (like at-home GRE/GMAT tests) or make some other changes?

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020, the mandatory entrance exam for admission to 20 IIMs, FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurugram and hundreds of top ranked B-schools in India, will be conducted on November 29, 2020. CAT 2020 Convener IIM Indore is making all efforts to hold CAT 2020 exam as per previous year schedule. In a relief to MBA aspirants, no change in Testing Mode is expected.

Moving a step closer to unveiling of CAT 2020, Professor Harshal Lowalekar, Faculty for Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques area at IIM Indore, has been appointed as the Convener of CAT 2020. This was confirmed by IIM Indore Director Prof Himanshu Rai in an exclusive interview with MBAUniverse.com. Professor Harshal Lowalekar is also the Chair of Admissions at IIM Indore, and has been awarded as Best Professor of the Year many times.

There are reports in Social Media that CAT 2020 might be postponed due to recent spike in Covid-19 cases causing the night curfew in many cities. To get clarity on the issue, MBAUniverse.com approached CAT 2020 convener Prof Harshal Lowalekar, faculty and admission chair at IIM Indore. Responding to the MBAUniverse.com query on November 23, 2020, Prof  Harshal has confirmed “CAT will happen on 29^th November only.
