The new students were addressed by the Dean and the Faculty of the mba institute, which was followed by a brief introduction of the new students. However, unlike last year, no famous personality visited the campus.

Commencements 2009: IIM Ahmedabad commences new batch with 310 students

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad commenced its new session of MBA program with a student batch size of 310, including 47 female students. The batch size this year has seen a rise of about 5 percent in comparison to last years 297 students. Also, as per details shared by IIM Ahmedabad with MBAUniverse.com, about 42.58 per cent of the new batch has no prior work experience. Rest of the batch has a average work experience of 23 months, according to the MBA School.

IIMA confirms CAT 09 will be held over 10 days, starting end of Nov

Mumbai based SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) welcomed 180 participants to its PGDM batch of 2009-2011, which includes 75 girls. SPJIMR has informed that the selections were made from over 18000 applications through rigorous admission process, which included weight-age being given to the past academic background, versatility and overall student personality. The new batch has 144 participants with prior work-experience and about 155 with an engineering background.

MAT goes the CAT way: candidates can opt for online or paper-pencil format

After the much debated CAT 2009 computer-based test, the Management Aptitude Test follows suit. The MAT 2009 has become an online affair, but the old form of paper-pencil MAT exam has not been scrapped by the organizing body. Unlike CAT 2009, MAT 2009 test-takers will be allowed to choose either the online or the traditional paper-pencil format of MAT depending upon their comfort level, according to the All India Management Association (AIMA).
