I took admission to two-year full-time PGDM programme for academic session 2013-15 in one of the B schools in Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR. I also deposited the first installment of fees. Within 2 days, I got a call from another B-school, and I decided to join it as it is better as compared to my earlier option which I had chosen. I sought the fee refund from my previous institute. But they are delaying the process. I am very disappointed; dont know what to do now.- Ashok Kumar, Delhi.

While management education has served the business world very well in last many decades, massive changes are sweeping the business world today. With the change from paper-pencil mode to computer-based testing, Common Admission Test (CAT) has not only offered convenient options on date, venue and timing but has also made it easier for candidates to solve a particular section Verbal Ability.

The computer-based CAT is more appealing and the aspirants are happy that they do not have to manage the flying papers under fast or slow rotating ceiling fan and their belongings Pen/pencil/scale/eraser, admit card etc.

As most of the B-schools tend to complete their campus placement during the months of February-April every year, the early trend on final placements 2013 suggests that more companies are heading to top B-schools than the last year. The recruiters, however, are taking a cautious approach and the number of offers per company has come down.

Though most of the IIMs are yet to announce their final placement reports, some of the top institutes like schools like XLRI, SPJIMR & XIMB, IIFT, MICA have completed 100 % placement for their 2011-13 batch.

As MBA aspirants get set for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2013, the gateway to premier IIMs and other top B-schools such as FMS, JBIMS, MDI, SPJIMR, the first hurdle for them is to find starting point for preparing different sections like Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. Once they reach clarity on the same, next comes deciding the preparation strategy for remaining six month for CAT 2013 now.

It seems that increasing the number of seats for their MBA programs is not the only task at the hands of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) anymore! The institutes will also have to boost their faculty now before they can even start thinking of expanding base abroad.
