Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad will hold its 43rd Annual Convocation on March 28, 2009, to award degrees to its Post Graduate Programs students. Mr. Deepak S Parekh, Chairman of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited, will be the chief guest for the occasion.Mr. Vijayapat Singhania, Chairman, Board of Governers, IIM A, will present the welcome address and confer degrees on passing-out PGP students. Mr. Deepak S Parekh will deliver the Convocation address at IIM A.

Prof. B S Sahay will take over from the Prof. C V Baxi, Acting Director, MDI Gurgaon. This announcement was made at the MDIs Annual Convocation 2009 on March 18 by Mr. N K Singh, Chairman of the Board of Governers of MDI, Gurgaon.

Said Mr N K Singh, MDI will have the new Director in Dr B S Sahay. He will be taking over the charge soon.

Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, was supposed to be the Chief Guest for the occasion. Due to sudden illness, he was unable to arrive on the day. Dr. Santrupt Misra, Director HR & Business Head for Carbon Black Business of Aditya Birla Group, delivered the Convocation address on Mr. Birlas behalf.

At the Convocation address, Dr. Santrupta Misra called the year 2008 as the year of the unthinkable and shared with the gathering of more than 1000 people, what it means at a global, macro level for business and for entrants to the world of business.

The GSVC is an international forum for students and entrepreneurs with social venture ideas. This competition is being conducted in collaboration with Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School and London Business School and is open to B-school students across Asia. It is aimed at promoting businesses to bring about a positive social change in a sustained and measurable manner, Mr. Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB, said.ISB has received 50 business plans from five countries India, China, Taiwan, France, and Hong Kong.
