Q: What is the total number of seats are there for IIFT MBA (IB) program?
A: There are 120 seats in Delhi and 60 seats in Kolkata.

Q: How many candidates have been short listed for GD/PI stage. Does the shortlist include the candidates for both Delhi & Kolkata Campus?

Delhi and Kolkata based Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has declared the shortlist of students who have done well in IIFTs written exam IIFT 2007. The shortlist was declared on December 12.

According to IIFT, 910 students have been selected for Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD & PI) for IIFTs MBA (International Business) program. The shortlisted students will now appear for GD & PI for the admission of batch of 2008-2010.

Said Mr Chidambaram, Human resource (HR) is the most important building block of building the new India. Today, our quality of HR is poor because of lack of proper education. The state of education in India is appalling! This must change.

Mr Chidambaram added that government was conscious of this fact and will be addressing this in next five year plan. Said Mr Chidambaram, Our allocation on education will increase substantially in next five year plan. As much as 19 % of total 11 th plan spending will be in the area of education.

Just one year ago, BusinessWeek reported that Chinese business schools were a big disappointment to recruiters. In fact, less than 20% of recruiters found that grads of Chinese business schools were good or excellent. At the time, China had only had MBA programs for about 15 years, so the dismal showing wasnt surprising.

India needs to impart relevant skill to 10 million people every year to reap the benefit of globalization, Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, said at CII International Conclave on Skills Development with the theme Building People Building India on December 12, in Delhi.

Said Mr Fernandes, Our population is not a problem, but an asset. We should provide our workforce world-class training and skill to excel in the new world order.
