Government do not wish to curtail the autonomy of the IIMs

In a statement issued by GOIs Press Information Bureau, a copy of which is with MBAUniverse.com, the HRD Ministry, while admitting the move to frame up an Institute of Technology Act like legislation, said Government do not wish to, in any way, curtail the autonomy of the IIMs. It adds, The Government has been examining the issue of bringing the IIMs in the country under an umbrella legislation like the Institutes of Technology Act.

Final Placements 08: PPOs pour in at IIM-B

Coveted companies like McKinsey & Co., Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan and Citigroup are going all out to ensure they reserve their candidates in time by making pre-placement offers (PPOs) to several of these students after their first year itself.

IIM Bangalore says that this year it has seen a significant rise in the number of Pre- Placement Offers (PPOs) made to IIM-B students. PPOs are final placement offers made to the students based on their performance during the summer internship at a company after the first year of MBA.
