The prime focus of the JBIMS MHRD program is to groom young generation to create, sustain and develop the business organizations and become change accelerators. “Nothing is permanent but change” and JBIMS is committed to create a new generation of HR professionals who can be the “Change Leaders” and “Change Management Catalysts” in the industry.

JBIMS is Preparing for today and tomorrow the Value driven HR professionals as organizational change facilitator in the Context of Nation Building. The Learning Environment remains for 12 hours a day and is Focussed on Research and Field projects on continual basis while Partnering with industry. Based on the performance on Entrance Exam, WAT, GA, PI, Academics, Extra curricular achievements among other parameters, final section will be made by awarding weightage to each of these parameters. While out of 100 score before Personal Assessment round the weightages awarded are 60% for Entrance exam; 15% for Academics; 5% for Diversity; 20% for Extra curricular and work experience. The next part is personal assessment which again has 100 score and the weightages for personal assessment are 60% for PI round; 20% for GA round and 20% for WAT.  As such, out of the total 200 score, the minimum Total Score (TS) required to be considered for admission to M.Sc. Finance is 50 for General Category and 45 for Reserve category. This will be as per the seat allocation done by Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai for MH-CET.

Curriculum

The Master of Science in Finance course at JBIMS is structured to deliver a strong foundation in the principles and practice of finance, and the analytical tools and skills to form a sound basis for financial decision making. The new curriculum of M.Sc. Finance offers all the essential academic and professional skills necessary for a successful career in finance. It will develop a deep understanding of financial theories, assumptions and techniques before going on to explore fast developing specialism’s such as Fintech, Big Data and International Finance. 

The programme focuses on financial decision-making from a management perspective. The programme is divided into four semesters. The first semester introduces the students to the environment of accounting, finance and basic tools of analysis. This semester contains six main courses: economics, quantitative methods, accounting and financial reporting, financial management, costing and taxation. This semester also contains two practical work in the areas of quantitative methods and accounting and financial reporting. Also, there are two seminar papers.  

The second semester equips the students with advanced tools such econometrics and financial modelling, and an exposure to the area of corporate finance, financial markets, fixed income securities and investment banking. This semester contains six main courses: Corporate governance and regulatory environment, corporate finance, econometrics and financial modelling, financial markets and institutions, fixed income securities and investment banking. This semester contains two practical’s econometrics and financial modelling. There are two seminar based papers.

The third semester exposes the students with advanced techniques and tools such as technical analysis, portfolio analysis, mergers and acquisition, risk in financial services and derivatives. This semester also contains two practical works in the areas of technical analysis and portfolio analysis and management. In addition, this semester exposes the students to advanced research in finance through two seminar-based paper. In this semester the students must work on a research project based on summer internship under the supervision of an assignment faculty.

Admission Process

JBIMS MMS admission process is through DTE CAP round. MAHCET, CMAT, CAT are the qualifying examinations for JBIMS admission. For the MMS programme JBIMS accepts different exams for Maharashtra State (MS) category and All India (AI) category candidates as per the DTE guidelines. For Maharashtra State candidates, JBIMS accepts only MAH CET score and for All India category, JBIMS accepts scores of MAHCET, CAT and CMAT exams. Based on their admission exam results, candidates are then invited to take a personal assessment examination. Separate merit lists will be produced for JBIMS Mumbai admission under the MAH and All India categories. 

  • JBIMS Shortlist criteria is on the basis of Percentile of Normalized score of entrance exams
  • Apart from score in the written exam, evaluation criteria will take into account complete personality of the candidate, which includes various parameters like extra-curriculars, other significant achievements.
  • JBIMS Mumbai past academic record is an important point of consideration in CAP round. Candidates with excellent academic record are preferred for JBIMS admission
  • Work experience is also a component of the admission criteria and will be given due weightage. However, if a fresher has other substantial credentials, he/she can cover up in other parameters. Work-ex alone would not be the deciding criteria.
  • JBIMS Mumbai selection criteria is decided by in the DTE CAP round. The JBIMS seat allocation will be done by DTE on merit in CAP rounds. 
Curriculum

The M.M.S. Course at JBIMS covers the major areas of business and management, with a strong emphasis on the entrepreneurial as well as the managerial skills. The Course duration of two years is divided into four semesters along with a summer internship project(s) of 8-12 weeks between the second and the third sememster in the months of may, June and July. During the second year of the degree, the students will have to specialize in a field of their choice. Areas of specialization offered in this 2-year full-time programme: Finance, Marketing, Operations, HR and Systems.

After summer internship project(s), students choose their intended area of specialization. All of the disciplines taught at JBIMS, place a strong emphasis on dynamic, practical, and industry-relevant knowledge and skills.

JBIMS MMS Application process is different from other B-schools’ admission process. Key points about how to apply for JBIMS Admission are:

  • No separate application needs to be submitted for JBIMS admission  
  • You need to register and apply for DTE CAP with scores of the entrance exams that you have taken
