An IIM Calcutta team has won second edition of EXL Acumen, an annual case study contest for students pursuing post-graduate programs at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The contestants comprised teams from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore also.

CAT 2013 seems to have hit by the slowing economy with registration numbers for the premier MBA entrance test for admission to IIMs and other top B-schools set to take a dip below 2 lakh even as the expected last week rush brought lackluster response before September 24 deadline for CAT voucher sale.

CAT 2013 Convenor Dr Rohit Kapoor told MBAUniverse.com that the registration numbers have reached around 1.90 lakh and is expected to be around 2 lakh by tomorrow when the on-line and off-line CAT voucher sale ends.

More working engineers have registered for NMAT as compared to the last year even as NMAT admission office expected the total number of registration to cross 60000 mark before the last date of September 24, 2013.

Mr Jayesh Ruchandani scored 99.12 percentile in CAT and accepted an admission offer from one of the new IIMs. In this Toppers Mantra session with MBAUniverse.com, Mr Jayesh shares his CAT prep strategy and talks on the challenges he faced during his preparation. A: I scored overall percentile of 99.12 in CAT and took admission in IIM Kashipur.

How you should spend this weekend to add new dimensions to your MBA admission dream?

With less than a months time left for CAT 2013 exam, you must spend this weekend to organize yourself towards entrance exam preparation and MBA exams registration and B-school application forms.

In his first major step towards building new academic processes at IIM Ahmedabad, newly appointed director Dr Ashish Nanda has appointed three new Deans at the Institute.

While Dr G Raghuram has been appointed new dean for Faculty, Dr Ajay Pandey and Dr Arvind Sahay have taken charge as Dean-Programmes and Dean-Alumni and External Relations respectively.

Announcing the new appointments, Dr Ashish Nanda who joined IIM-A from Harvard Law School, said, I look forward to working with the Deans and the Faculty to build on the Institutes strength.

IIM Ranchi has appointed IIM Kolkata Professor Dr Binay Bhushan Chakrabarti as new director. Dr Chakrabarti has joined IIM Ranchi after the institute director Dr M J Xavier resigned from the office citing personal reasons.
Prior to his new role, Dr Binay Bhushan Chakrabarti, who has over two decades of teaching, research and industry experience, was a Professor of Finance at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. He has taught at many top B-schools including IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Indore, XIMB amongst others.
