The bad news came too late and even institutes with a strong placement record saw a long recruitment period, low average salaries and a new set of recruiters like PSUs who would possibly have never been so sought-after in the past.

The annual business fest Parivartan provided a platform for business prodigies to analyze, interpret and debate relevant issues of economic and social significance. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have decided to hike their fees for the academic year starting June 2009. The fee hike ranges from 9% to a whopping 60%. This hike in fee by IIMs is likely to snowball into lesser known institutions also raising their fee. The table shows the increase of fees by IIMs for new academic session starting June 2009.

The university offers PhD programs in Computer Science & Engineering, Educational Technology and Bioinformatics & Biotechnology, MTech Programs in Computer Science & Engineering and Educational Technology and BTech Programs in Computer Science & Engineering, through customized curriculum aligned to the industry needs.

The inauguration session will be followed by orientation sessions on April 3 & 4; and the classes for the new batch will be commenced from April 6. The programme has been designed for executives; this new programme is an addition to the long-duration programmes offered by IIM B, and significantly enhances the range of educational opportunities at the Institute.

The panel discussion centered on the theme of finding the next business model for the Indian IT industry and the unanimous conclusion was that a more collaborative model of interaction and technology development among the various IT industries was the need of the hour. The panelists agreed that the sector would in the next few months successfully counter the recessive storm in the global economy to emerge stronger.

The hike will be Rs 75,000 for the first year and Rs 75,000 for the second year. So the students will have to pay now Rs 5.25 lakh in the first year, compared to Rs 4.5 lakh earlier, and Rs 5.75 lakh in the second year, compared to Rs 5 lakh earlier.
