IIM Indore holds tenth Convocation; Business-leaders, thought-leaders inspire graduating batch

The pre-convocation function of the class of 2009 of IIM Indore took place on 29 March 2009. The pre-convocation function started with the Guest lecture on Essential Learning and Circumstantial Learning by Professor S.K. Chakravarthy, Retired Faculty of IIM Calcutta and Founder, National Centre for Human Values at IIM Calcutta.Mr A Ramasubramanian, Chief Executive, Eicher Motors, The CV Unit of Eicher Motors Ltd, was the Chief Guest of the pre-convocation function.

Business leaders must focus on fixing financial system, prevent volatility in market, says C Rangarajan, Ex-RBI Governor

He was addressing the 43rd Annual Convocation of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi on April 13, 2009.While speaking on the current economic downturn, Dr Rangarajan said, The global financial crisis has assumed panic proportions. It originated in the sub-prime mortgage crisis which surfaced last year in the United States. The severity of the crisis in the developed world has taken everyone by surprise including the regulators. The market regulators failed to see the impact of the derivative products which clouded the weaknesses of the underlying transactions.

CII to hold conference on linking education to employability on Apr 21

The objective of this conference is to stress the need to strengthen the link between the education and employability. The backbone of a countrys growth story is the education system which is responsible for equipping the human capital of the country. India needs to create a futuristic vision to provide the link and also vision ambassadors to reach out to grass-root levels, says CII.

PSUs recruit 30% graduates at IIFT placement

Commenting on the successful completion of this years placement season, Mr Munish Bhargava, the corporate and placements advisor at IIFT, says, We have registered 100 percent placement in 2009. Meltdown of the markets from October lead to layoffs across sectors all over the world and most organizations seemed to be putting their growth plans on hold. IIFT has managed to rise to the challenge, ensuring 100% placements for its students and in the process adding 20% more recruiters to its previous years numbers. Seventy-three companies participated offering diverse profiles to students.

MDI in alliance with IOC launches Energy Management programme

This new course on Oil & Gas will be exclusively administered by the MDI School of Energy Management (SEM) and the IOC, which is a Fortune 500 Company. The course was inaugurated by Mr V C Agrawal, IOC Director-HR.

Speaking on the programme and related developments, Mr Agrawal said, IOC experts who are holding higher ranks will take all the 30 sessions comprising different aspects of Petroleum Management. The company will initiate with MDI collaborative programs, research activities and case studies on the issues related to all aspects of the petroleum sector.

UKs Leeds University to offer MBA courses, Bachelors programmes in India

The first academic year will start from September 2009 by offering Leeds Metropolitan Universitys undergraduate courses in the field of business studies, retail marketing management, international business and HRM among others. It also plans to roll out other post-graduate courses by 2010 including MBA and MSc in various disciplines as well as new undergraduate courses including Event Management, Marketing, and Advertising Management.
