The conference was held from August 11-13, 2008 at IIM Indore. At the conference, a total of 160 papers were received out of which 128 papers were presented. In total, 30 Doctoral papers were presented.

Dr Kalam spoke at length about the Role of consultants in an emerging knowledge-based economy. Later, he responded to questions from both the Delhi as well as Kolkata campuses on the topic.

The objective of the visiton August 11, 2008was to give both groups of students a chance to network and discuss cases in the area of business strategy.

On the occasion, a two hour joint case-discussion on ITC e-Choupal was held at IIM-L Noida campus which was facilitated by Prof Stanley D Nollen, Mc Donough School of Business and Prof M Akbar, Professor of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship, IIM Lucknow.

The workshops began in July, 2008 and will continue till February 2009.

The workshops are divided into four sessions which include Case Method of Teaching Demonstration; Case Method of teaching by participants and feedback; Presentation of draft cases by participants and feedback and Sharing experiences in case writing.

The workshops are aimed at faculty members from B-schools in India; trainers from large industrial organizations and senior HR executives who are involved in training related activities.

Samhar, the annual sports meet between IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta was held on August 10, with IIM Bangalore winning 15 out of the 17 events.

More than 90 students from IIM-C had traveled to Bangalore to participate in Samhar. The meet kicked off on Friday with Throwball (Girls), an event that never fails to draw large crowds. IIM-B won it in straight sets and then went on to win Volleyball that was much more closely contested.

The auditorium bustled with 121 students; each one stepping into a new and perhaps the most important phase of his or her life. Dr. Chavan, Director, JBIMS and Mr. Nitin Paranjpe, CEO of Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) addressed the students at the induction ceremony.

Mr. Murthy addressed the student fraternity and extended community at the ISB on how to build and sustain institutions. He also underscored the importance of corporations in creating a social impact.

Dr Ganguly was speaking at a Session on Entrepreneurship and Recommendations of the National Knowledge Commission, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Delhi on August 11. He added that the lack of skills development was a worrying factor.

Prof J K Mitra, Dean of FMS Delhi, told MBAUniverse.com that the entrance exam for the academic year 2009-2011 will be held on January 11, 2009.

Said Dr Mitra, We have scheduled the next FMS entrance exam for the second Sunday of January that is January 11, 2009. On the subject of announcement of other important dates like release and submission of application forms, Prof Mitra said, We have only decided the FMS exam date while the official advertisement from FMS will be released in the month of September this year.

Delegates from all over the world specially from emerging economies, faculty members from India and abroad, senior Indian central government officials and state officials, representatives of multinational companies will be attending the conference at IIM Indore.
