IIMs global branding initiatives: Tie-ups with Stanford and Columbia
In a similar move, IIM Ahmedabad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Columbia Business School. According to sources at IIM A, Columbia B-school dean Glenn Hubbard will visiting India later this month when the partnership between the two B-schools is formalized. While the IIM A officials confirmed the proposed tie-up with Columbia, they did not comment on the nature of the tie-up. Columbia Business School is among the top ten (according to Business Weeks 2006 rankings) B-schools in the world.
Alumni unite to make IIM a global brand
In his keynote address, Kiran Karnik said, The PIAA is uniquely placed to make a big impact on the economic and social fabric of the country. It will provide a platform for discussing new ideas and creating a powerful independent voice on topical issues and policies, even as it plays a role in furthering Brand IIM globally.
Commenting on the potential of PIAA, Nirpjit Singh (Noni) Chawla said, The PIAA has the potential of making a major contribution to the communities and societies that the alumni live in.

Lalu paathshala: the Railway Ministers management tips for Harvard and Wharton students
Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav recently lectured Harvard and Wharton students at the National Rail Museums auditorium: 100 students from Harvard Business School and 30 from Wharton, along with seven professors from both B-schools. The students had come all the way to meet the Indian minister for taking tips on management and sharing the success story of Indian Railways. Lalu, as we all know, has been credited for the financial turnaround of the loss-making Railways into a profit-making venture.
