Harvard Professor writes an authoritative biography of Intels Andy Grove
Andy Grove was born on September 2, 1936, in Budapest, Hungary, to a middle-class Jewish family. According to Wikipedia, he was named Grf Andrs Istvn (in Hungary, the family name is first). His friends called him Andris. In 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, he left his home and family under the cover of night, and emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York in 1957, where he studied chemical engineering from the City College of New York in 1960. After settling in California, he received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1963.

Great Lakes Institute of Management, a premier B-School in India celebrated its Annual Convocation at the CTC Convention Center, Chennai. Dr. Subra Suresh, President of Carnegie Mellon University, Pennsylvania, delivered the presidential address. Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, Founder of M.S. Swaminathan Research foundation and former Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research addressed the graduands through video and delivered the convocation address.

More than 100 French universities and institutes will participate in the French Higher Education Week that started on February 15, and will continue till the 23rd. The French Higher Education Week has been structured as a double Edu France Forum, with two major stages: the student fair and institutional meetings. One institutional meeting was held on the 15th, while the fair will be held on 16th and 17th in New Delhi at the India Habitat Centre.

French B-school ESSEC keen to attract Indian students
Bruno Heraud, director of international recruitment, ESSEC, who is in India as part the French Edu Fair, told MBAUniverse.com: Out of 1,200 Indian students in institutes all over France, we have only 10 Indian students, which is not enough. In future, we will try to attract more students. I expect 20 students by October of this year and more than 30 by the end of the year.
India can be a nursery for global talent
That was the key thought that emerged at a NASSCOM Summit panel discussion titled Strange rise of modern India: Claiming victory too soon? The panel members were Dr Kiran Karnik, president, Nasscom; S Ramadorai, CEO & MD, TCS; Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro; and Edward Luce of the Financial Times. Dr Karnik said, India can be the nursery for global talent. The massive growth of the IT and ITeS industries in India shows that we have the skills and processes in place. While some problems exist, we will find the solutions.
