Fellow Programme in Management
IIM Raipur does not charge any tuition fee, hostel fee, library fee, computer fee from FPM students pursuing the programme. Instead, IIM Raipur full time Research Scholars are provided financial assistance to all academic and other expenses.
Scholarship to the tune of Rs.35,000 is offered to FPM students in the 1st and 2nd year and Rs.40,000 in 3rd and 4th year of programme.
Besides, to attend international and National Conferences, an amount of up to Rs 1,50,000 during FPM program is provided. While a financial assistance of Rs.50,000 is given to purchase laptop/PC, the research scholars are offered a contingency grant of Rs.40,000 per year during the programme.

The fellow programme at IIM Raipur has been categorized into the following three phases: Phase I (Fundamentals of Management), Phase II (Specialization) and Phase III (Doctoral Dissertation). Research scholars will spend generally a little over four years that includes two years of rigorous course work.
The Course work in the first year provides a general management overview and develops basic skills for analysing managerial problems. In the second year, research scholars will take advanced doctoral level courses in the area of specialization; followed by the doctoral dissertation, for the next couple of years. The dissertation is aimed at contributing original research in the area of management studies or to one of its source disciplines. In the following line we provide the glimpses of these phases
During summer Internship, at the end of the first year of course work, all research scholars complete a research project either with a faculty member at the Institute or in any other organization. While the course work formally gets over with the completion of Phase II, doctoral research scholars are encouraged to continue taking advanced courses of interest even during this last stage of study.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
IIM Visakhapatnam offers 5 years full time PhD Program. It is a research-intensive doctoral program aimed at imparting high-quality training in research.

Financial Support for IIMV PhD Students
Stipend will be paid at Rs. 37,000/- per month for the 1st two years and Rs. 42,000/- per month from the third year onwards.

IIMV PhD Program comprises of two phases Coursework and Thesis work. The phase-1 of Course work covers the first year of the programme. Successful completion of the first phase requires passing the Comprehensive Examination (Written & Viva) at the end of the first academic year. a student is required to take 18-credit courses over this period.
On completion of Phase 1, the students begin thesis work consisting of a thesis proposal and a final thesis-evaluation. The area concerned can decide on the combination of PGP and PhD courses to be offered in year, subject to the minimum requirements. so that the student completes 27 credits before the comprehensive qualifying examination.

Doctoral Programme in Management
The Doctoral Programme in Management is a full-time doctoral programme of 5 years that offers students opportunities for research in different areas of Management. Ph.D scholars are engaged in serious cutting edge research across areas of Business Law, Economics & Public Policy, Finance & Accounting, Information Systems & Analytics, Marketing, Operations Management & Decision Sciences, Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management and Strategy.
The program begins with doctoral level courses from the very first day indicating its resolute focus on research training. The robustness and dynamism of the program is evidenced by the achievements of our doctoral students.
The selection process at IIM Tiruchirappalli is multi-staged. All stages of this process are equally important for a potential candidate seeking admission into the program.
Stage 1: Submission of the application form. Begin the application process by submitting application form and all associated submissions (academic record documents, certificates, qualifying examination scores, application fees etc.) At this stage, candidates express their interest in pursuing their Ph.D. at IIMT by choosing to apply to one or two areas of interest.
Stage 2: Research Aptitude Examination. This will be a written examination, that is conducted by some of the areas. This examination is conducted to test the candidate's research aptitude in a particular area of specialization. Thus, the content of the examination is very specific to the area. It may range from an examination of the candidates’ quantitative aptitude to their ability to understand and analyze/ synthesize research papers.
Stage 3: Area Interview: All candidates shortlisted in Stage 1, will be required to attend the personal interview with members of/ experts in their chosen area of specialization. Candidates who clear this stage of the process will be sent an offer of admission to the Ph.D. Programme in Management at IIM Tiruchirappalli.
IIM Tiruchirappalli will reimburse travel expenses limited to III AC train fare (with a maximum cap), to shortlisted candidates. The details of travel reimbursement will be shared with the shortlisted candidates.
IIM Trichy PhD programme has rigorous coursework focused on research training. The program is designed to help students complete their dissertation within a period of five years. In the first eighteen months, students are required to complete a coursework which exposes them to general management subjects, fundamental courses to gain an appreciation of management research, advanced courses in their respective areas of specialization and courses in research methodologies.
In total a student has to earn a minimum of 54 credits. Area specialization compulsory courses (Doctoral level) – 12 Credits, Area specialization elective courses (Doctoral level) – 9 credits, Research appreciation Courses (Doctoral level) – 6 credits, Methodology courses (Doctoral level) – 6 credits, General Management courses (PGPM level) – 15 credits.
In addition to the classroom courses, each student initiates a ‘Research Paper’ during the two-month summer break between Year 1 & Year 2 and continues to work on the paper during the second year for a total of 6 credits. Each student works with a designated research guide for this component of the coursework. A three credit course involves total classroom input of 30 hours. Each course involves assignments and submissions which students have to work upon beyond class hours.
To proceed further on their research journeys, students are required to clear their CQEs conducted by their respective areas of specialization. The CQE has three components – a written exam, viva voce and examination of the status of the 'Research Paper'. All students have to undergo the DPM level courses that will be offered in Year 1.
- Eligible Candidates are required to apply online. They can apply to a maximum of two areas of specialization.
- An application fee of Rs.1000/- is required, which has to be remitted online
- No application fee is applicable in the case of SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Candidates with a PGDM (full-time 2-year MBA program) from any of the IIMs or a PGPBM from IIM Tiruchirappalli will be exempted from having to take the eligibility tests (CAT / GRE / GMAT/ GATE/ UGC -JRF) provided the student has a CGPA greater than 2.6/4.33 or equivalent

Scholarship
IIM Sirmaur full time PhD scholars are offered various financial supports and stipends to complete the programme hassle free:
Stipend: Full time PhD Students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 30,000 excluding House Rent Allowance (HRA) of Rs 5,000. After clearing the CQE, the monthly stipend will be revised to Rs.35,000 till the end of their fourth year in the programme. The stipend is in addition to tuition fee waiver, books and materials, insurance and other contingency expenses. The support can be extended for six months for a maximum of two times thereafter with the concurrence of the TAC and the DPR Committee. If extended two times, stipend will be paid till 31st May of the student’s fifth year.
Contingency Grant: Contingency Grant of Rs 30,000 per year is allowed on a reimbursement basis for purchase of hardware, software, books, databases, data collection expenses, conference expenses and any other items directly related to the programme for a maximum of 4 years. Any unspent money of the Contingency Grant in one year can be carried forward to future period, as long as the student is registered in the programme.
Conference Grant: Conference Grant will be available to PhD students from June of their second year. PhD students can avail the conference grant for paper presentation provided the grant request should be recommended by the student’s faculty mentor (before TAC formation) or TAC Chairperson (after TAC formation) and will be finally approved by the DPR Chairperson. National conference grant is Rs 60,000 for the duration of the programme. International conference grant is Rs 2,50,000 for 2 international conferences that a PhD student can attend during the course of the programme.

IIM Sirmaur launched the 5 year full time PhD programme with the rigour and training at par with premier business schools in India and abroad. The objective of the programme is to train research scholars in a way that they become experts in their area through intensive teaching and research.

IIM Sirmaur uses the concept of credit to define the weightage of courses in the curriculum. Courses are listed as one, two or three-credit courses depending upon the indicative workload for each course. Generally, a three-credit course involves about 140 hours of work, of which nearly 25% is in the classroom and the rest outside the classroom in the form of preparation and assignments.
The PhD programme starts with coursework and then comes the stage of research. PhD students will pursue the first year of the coursework along with MBA students of IIMS. In the second year, they would be required to study PhD compulsory courses, area compulsory courses based on the student’s area of specialization and other elective courses.
During the first two years, the student undertakes rigorous coursework in overall management courses as well as area courses. This is interspersed with a summer research project for a period of 8-10 weeks. At the end of course work stage, a Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE) will be conducted. On successfully clearing the CQE, students will go to the research stage by submitting and defending their research proposal. After writing the thesis based on the research proposal, students will submit the thesis for evaluation and publicly defend it.

Waivers: PGP (Full-time) alumni of any IIM who have graduated within the past three years will get a waiver from appearing for the screening examinations provided they have graduated with a minimum CGPA equivalent to 60%

Executive Doctoral Programme in Management
Executive Ph.D. programme at IIM Sirmaur (IIMS) is a doctoral programme in management for working executives interested in pursuing research in any of the fields of management and want to contribute to the body of management literature. The Executive PhD participants at IIM Sirmaur are expected to complete their thesis in four to six years. In the initial phase, there will be six months of coursework and courses will be offered in the participants’ area of specialization. This will be followed by a Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE). After successfully clearing the CQE, participants will graduate to the research phase of the programme under the supervision of Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC). Doctoral scholars are expected to submit their thesis by the end of fifth year.
There will be two terms within the six months of coursework. Online classes will be conducted over the weekends. There will be a campus visit scheduled each term for one week for off-line classes and interaction.

The programme duration is four years. Ph.D. in IIM Ranchi is an academic programme, which may require a minimum of four years to complete. Candidates who fulfil the above eligibility criteria can apply online. They are also required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified in GATE, GRE, GMAT and NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization.
A candidate for the IIM Ranchi PhD programme must have one of the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with first class (or); B.Tech/4 Years Degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent (or), Any professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CS with a B.Com/Degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average.
- In addition, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent) in all their public examinations starting with the secondary level. Work experience in industry or academics, though not mandatory, will be given due credit in the selection process.
- Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the programme will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree
- A candidate must not be more than 55 years of age
Step-1: Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria should submit application.

Scores of any of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years will be considered valid for the admission in Ph.D. Candidates who have already obtained a one/two year full-time classroom-based Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or in any specialized area of management (e.g., PGD in HRM, Agri-Business Management etc.) from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent in last four years preceding the admission year are exempted from this requirement, and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.
Step-3: The candidates short-listed on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above will be called for a seminar and personal interview for final selection in April/May and the successful candidates will receive admission offer.
Executive Doctoral Programme in Management
IIM Ranchi offers an Executive Doctoral Programme in Management for experienced professionals who wish to pursue a doctoral degree while continuing their professional commitments. The program is designed to cater to the unique needs and constraints of working executives and provides them with an opportunity to advance their knowledge, skills, and research expertise in the field of management.

The Executive Doctoral Programme in Management requires a minimum of four years for completion and is divided into two phases. In the first phase, executive doctoral scholars must complete six terms of coursework. The first two terms have two compulsory courses each term, that all participants must take, irrespective of their area of specialisation. The third term has two area-depth courses. The fourth term has one area-depth course and one breadth course from other relevant areas. The fifth and sixth terms comprise workshops providing research skill sets and teaching experience.
After completing the coursework, executive doctoral scholars must demonstrate their capability of conducting research by submitting dissertation work. This is followed by a Comprehensive Examination aimed at assessing the knowledge gained in the area of specialisation. In the subsequent years, the students work on their thesis, which is expected to be an original contribution to the specialised area of management. The thesis is evaluated in internal and external thesis defence.

Candidates for the Executive doctoral programme in Management should have minimum of 5 years of work experience by 31st March of the target year of education.
Candidates for the programme must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE, or any equivalent qualification from recognised foreign universities or institutions.
