Step-1: Apply and Appear in one of the Entrance Exams CAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT
Step-2: IMI Kolkata Shortlisting Criteria for Final Selection Round consider various quality parameters apart from considering entrance exam score including profile based shortlisting through the computation of a composite score based on different weights for multiple parameters that will include Entrance Exam Scores; Past Academic Performance; Diversity measures across multiple dimensions, work experience, etc.
Step-3: Final Selection is based on the Personal Assessment round, which may have components like Essay Writing and Personal Interview.
Step-4: IMI Kolkata Final Admission offer will be based on entrance exam scores, past academic performance in graduation, class XII & X, Personal Assessment, quality of work experience, diversity across multiple dimensions, and extra-curricular activities. The overall objective is to identify and assess the candidate’s potential for a managerial career.
IMI Kolkata PGDM programme curriculum is spread over two years and is divided in six trimesters. IMI is known for its consistent changes and innovations in curriculum that are industry centric. The programme inculcates a strong sense of business fundamentals along with ethical values. This develops versatile managers who are capable of handling responsibilities in different business domains. The emphasis is on developing a holistic manager with a vision to take on the challenges of the future in a socially sensitive manner.
IMI Kolkata course for the PGDM Programme is spread over six trimesters, each trimester being of 11-12 weeks. The first three trimesters are essentially devoted to foundation courses, across core areas of management. These are aimed at providing the student with the conceptual understanding of the functional areas. On completion of the first year, all students are required to undergo a Summer Internship Program of 8 to 10 weeks duration.
IMI Kolkata offers range of specializations in the 2nd year of PGDM programme.
Students will have an opportunity to specialize in the functional area of their interest. A student can specialize in more than one area. The areas of Specialization are Marketing, Finance, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Operations, Information Systems and Analytics.
After applying for at least one of the MBA entrance exams, you need to apply for IMI Kolkata admission. The application process is online and application fee is Rs. 2250 which can be paid online.
IMI Kolkata PGDM Admission eligibility criteria require:
- Applicant must hold a minimum 3 years’ bachelor's degree recognized by AIU (Association of Indian Universities), with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA
- A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
- Apart from a recognized graduate degree, another key point in IMI Kolkata eligibility criteria is that the candidate should appear in CAT/XAT/CMAT and must score the required cut off
- Candidates with Foreign Nationality are also eligible, based on their GMAT scores, provided the score is not more than three years old.

IMI Kolkata offers tuition fee waivers to needy students. All students whose total family income is less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum shall be eligible for Scholarship under Economically Weaker Section. Applications for Tuition Fee Waiver under Economically Weaker Section shall be invited from the students after they have been admitted intothe programme. All Applications for Tuition fee waiver (under economically weaker section) shall be collected and processed at one time for all such applicants. Scholarships for Economically Weaker Section shall be offered up to 5% seats of the total intake of the institute.
