WAT 2016 in IIMs: Trends show rising weightage; get ready as CAT 2015 high percentile not suffice

Post CAT 2015 result declaration and announcement of shortlists, IIMs are getting ready for the final admission round, the PI & WAT process. While 6 IIMs will conduct Common Admission Process (CAP) comprising PI & WAT to be coordinated by IIM Kashipur for 10000 candidates, other top rated IIMs like IIMA, IIMB, IIMC, IIML will conduct their respective personal interview and written ability tests.

5 of 6 IIMs that started operation in 2010-11 and 2 among 6 that started the maiden batch in 2015 have decided to shortlist more than 7000 candidates for next stage of admission round only on the basis of CAT 2015 scores.
The candidates who have scored 80 and 90 percentile in CAT 2015 stand a good chance to get admission in these 7 IIMs even if they do not have excellent academic profile, diversity or work experience. No other weightage factor is proposed to be included in the first stage of shortlisting by these 7 IIMs.

FMS Delhi to shortlist in 10:1 ratio of intake for MBA 2016-18; awards weightage to CAT 2015 sectional scores

Not less than 2100 candidates are proposed to be shortlisted for PI round by Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi for admission to MBA 2016-18 batch having an intake of 215 students. CAT 2015 scores will be the sole shortlisting criterion. Those who have applied for MBA 2016-18 at FMS Delhi and have scored good sectional as well as overall percentile may expect to be shortlisted by the top rated B-school.

New IIMs are now amending their admission policy for high percentilers in CAT 2015 to get the full intake in their class rooms. In the series IIM Sirmaur mentored by IIML has announced that the final admission process will not include GD/PI round and the offers for PGP 2016-18 batch will be made only on the basis of CAT 2015 scores and profile of the candidate. MICA Admission 2016: Last date to apply extended to February 4; ensures more opportunities to applicants

MICA Ahmedabad has extended the last date to apply for MICAT-II to February 4, from earlier January 31, 2016. For the admissions to PGDMC 201618 batch, MICA has introduced a new process where candidates are given 2 opportunities to take the MICAT exam and participate in the group exercise (GE) and personal interview (PI).

MICA has initiated a computer-based exam in place of the pen and paper model, as such MICAT - I was conducted at 14 centres and 5, 251 students applied for the exam. Of this, 536 candidates were called for the GE-PI process at 5 centres.

Will IIM Visakhapatnam and IIM Bangalore need same CAT 2015 percentile for shortlisting? Wait for surprise

Admission Policy announced by IIM Bangalore for the PGP batch 2016-18 prescribes the same minimum qualifying percentile as was prescribed for IIM Visakhapatnam for its maiden 2015-17 batch. Because of the required high minimum percentile in CAT, IIM Visakhapatnam could not get the desired intake of 60 students and had to be content with 54 students only.

XAT 2016 Result: No candidate scores 100 percentile; 51.75 marks highest; chances to get top B school go up

After declaring the XAT 2016 result 5 days ahead of the scheduled date, XLRI has made public the highest scored marks that fetched 100 percentile in XAT 2016. The candidate scoring 51.75 marks out of maximum 78 marks coming to 66.35% marks, has knocked near 100 percentile and would figure in the shortlist of all the top rated B-schools like XLRI, SPJIMR, IMT, XIMB among others.
