XAT 2016 Analysis: Exam with difficult Verbal but easy Decision Making; better time management remained the key

XAT 2016, held on January 3, 2016 did not offer much easier test as promised by XLRI even after bringing out significant changes. 78 questions in Part I of XAT 2016 were divided in 3 sections of Verbal Ability with 26 questions, Decision Making with 23 questions and Quant with 29 questions. The first section of Verbal and Logical Ability had high difficulty level although questions in Decision Making and Quant sections were a bit easier.

Please remember XAT 2016 will have additional duration of 30 minutes with no breaks in between and as such the exam will be of 210 minutes duration instead of earlier 180 minutes. Despite the increase in time, the number of questions in the test will be less. Instead of 114 questions in MCQ form, XAT 2016 will have 103 questions with a reduced level of difficulty.

Despite the commitment to declare the CAT 2015 result in the second week of January 2016, it has not been possible for the IIM Ahmedabad the CAT 2015 convening IIM to announce the exact date of the result.
