According to a survey conducted by staffing company TeamLease and management portal MBAUniverse.com, whopping 60% of second year MBA students at Indias top B-schools like IIMs, XLRI, MDI and JBIMS fear that Wall Street meltdown will have some impact on this years final placements. In fact, 37% percent of the students polled said there will be a lot of impact on placements. Only 3% believed there will be no impact at all.

To deliberate on the current global turmoil and the role India Inc can play, Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi will be holding its annual national business summit titled Building India Inc 2008 on November 1-2, 2008. The theme of the Summit is Super Brand India.

The summit is an attempt to bring together the corporate and the academia to deliberate on issues and challenges facing the nation and share their experiences and views with the larger audience, says IIT DMS.

According to the agreement, up to four students from SDM-IMD would get an opportunity to spend a semester and attend courses at Mays Business School. An equal number of MBA students from Mays would be invited to study a semester in SDM-IMDs campus in Mysore.

Addressing a panel on retail sector, Mr Arvind Singhal, Chairman, Technopak Advisors said, Even if we discount our growth rates to 6-7%, we expect a very sizable growth in the Indian retail market in next five years. The question really is whether the business model of the retail company is correct.

These were the broad issues that formed the theme of the IT Conclave organized by Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad on October 4th, 2008. The IT Conclave, sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., witnessed eminent personalities from the IT industry as well as B-school students.
