IIT-Bs SJM SOM holds Systems and Consulting Continuums
The Systems Continuum 2008 was held at institute on February 8. The theme of the event was: The Evolution of IT in the Changing Macroeconomic Scenario. The Consulting Continuum 08 was held at SJM SOM on March 9. The theme of the event was: The restructuring of organizations to make the most of Indias current growth scenario. Indias leading management portal MBAUniverse.com was the Official Management Portal for both the events.
Continuums are a series of lectures held annually in each discipline of management at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJM SOM).
NMIMS team wins LOr
LOral Brandstorm is a prestigious international marketing competition that challenges students to take on the role of a LOral brand manager, providing the opportunity for students to interact with LOral brand and product managers. Students use their marketing knowledge and creativity to develop an international brand strategy, design new packaging and develop a real communication campaign.
Final Placements 08: IIM-B completes placements with new highs
IIM-B created history this time with 133 students out of the batch of 256, that is, more than 50% of the batch, taking up offers from Slot Zero firms; a statistic unmatched across the IIMs.
The total number of Slot Zero offers itself increased as a whole as students were recruited for diverse profiles and geographies. The number of companies on Slot-Zero went up to 32, which shows a substantial increase in the number of participating companies.

Final Placements 08: FMS Delhi records higher average salary
Not only did the traditional favorite, the MBA programme, managed to bag an average salary of Rs 15.31 lakhs, the newer MBA (Management of Services) programme also attracted prestigious recruiters.
At Day Zero, IIM-C grad breaks Rs 1 crore salary barrier
At the end of Day Zero, close to 100 students have already been placed in the firms of their choice. Placement officials expect an increase of 20 % in the average salary offered at IIM-C.
This year the placements also saw students choosing strategic consulting roles in a big way with major consultancies like BCG, Bain, McKinsey, AT Kearney and AD Little hiring over 40 candidates at the end of the first day of placements.
Final Placement 08: IIFT grads bag higher average salary
The series of pre-placement offers and laterals season earlier meant that 57 students had already been placed even before the final placements had started. The average compensation package this year rose to Rs 10.11 lakh per annum from Rs 9.3 lakh per annum last year. The highest domestic salary this year was Rs 25 lakh per annum whereas the highest international package was US $ 110,000 per annum.
Final Placements 08: IIM-L grads find their dream jobs
Final Placements this year saw a number of consulting firms like McKinsey & Co., AT Kearney, Ernst & Young, Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, KPMG, PriceWaterhouseCoopers , TAS and Bristlecone visiting the campus.
IIM-A, IIT SJMSOM, NMIMS and SCMHRD to compete at LOr
Five national finalists namely IIM- Ahmedabad, SJMSOM of IIT - Mumbai, two teams from NMIMS, Mumbai and SCMHRD Pune will compete to win the coveted contest. The winners of the National Finals will get an opportunity to go to Paris to participate in the 16th International Finals and compete with students from across the globe.
The finals of the contest will be held in Mumbai on Monday, March 10 at NMIMS University.
Final Placements 08: IIM-K records strong gains
Placements culminated with the Class of 2008 achieving an average salary of Rs 14.83 lac per annum, a rise of 26% over last years figure. The highest domestic salary at IIM-K shot up by 28% to Rs 29 lac per annum. The highest international salary recorded a phenomenal 60% jump, capping at USD 175,000 per annum by an Oil & Gas conglomerate.
Top firms offer higher salaries, better profiles at IIM-A Lateral Placements 08
Laterals were conducted in the months of January and February 2008.
The significant amount of prior work experience of the batch of 2006-08 led to an increase in the number of students eligible for lateral placements. Many big names in fields such as consulting, private equity, general management and banking participated in the process.
