K.J. Somaiya Institute records 20% rise in average salary

The top five recruiters who visited the campus were ICICI Bank, Satyam Computer Services, IBM, Covansys and J.P. Morgan Chase.

Mumbai-based K.J. Somaiya Institute shared its placement report with MBAUniverse.com -- which shows that 227 offers were made to students on campus (the institute has a policy of one offer per student); 3 students had received pre-placement offers; 13 did not participate.

Regular recruiters from different sectors like IBM, ITC, Citibank, Wipro, Voltas, Covansys, HCL Technologies, HSBC Analytics, Infosys, Infosys BPO, Maruti, Tata Motors, and Ashok Leyland continued to express their trust in the graduates of VGSOM. Companies like Cognizant Technology Solutions, Patni Computer Systems, International Tractors Limited, Cholamandalam DBS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Vedanta Group and Telelogic joined the list of distinguished recruiters this year.

From Warfront to Boardrooms: IIM-A program for defense personnel now twice a year

While the six-month program was earlier planned for once in a year, IIM-A has now agreed to conduct the program twice a year.

The program aims at providing management education to officers of the Indian Armed Forces, whether in short commission or regular commission, who are due to retire shortly or have retired recently. The objective? To help officers from all three services Army, Air Force and Navy-- in their rehabilitation in civil life after their retirement. (Management training was identified as their key preference.)

Placements 07 brings smiles galore at Jamnalal Bajaj

The 07 placements season at JBIMS has brought smiles on the faces of the entire batch of 124 students: everyone got placed on Day One! Whats more, there were more than two offers per student, with the average number of offers per student at 2.38.

While the highest domestic salary offered was Rs. 15 lakhs (currently under revision), the average salary crossed the Rs 10 lakh mark.

Columbia Business School sets sights on India; deepens alignment with IIM-A

CBS dean Glenn Hubbard announced this partnership during a conference on the world economy on 19th February at New Delhi (that was held in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry). He said, We are keen to include Indian case studies in our business and management courses. This way our curriculum will become distinct in its approach as not many US business schools have an Indian component in their style syllabi. The aim is to bring Indian business practices to the US and vice-versa. We are looking at IIMs for our partnership.

Coming soon: AACSBs conference on best practices in management education

Judy Olian, Dean and John E. Anderson Chair of Management, Anderson School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles, will be the chairperson at the conference.

Placements 2007 results out at IMI

The financial sector picked up 19% students, consulting 15%, and KPO 17%.The rest of the students were divided between oil & gas, consumer durables, manufacturing, market research, and pharma made up the rest.
The highest package offered was Rs. 13.68 lac (per annum) by Jumbo Electronics, followed by Rs. 10.30 lac by Accenture. The average salary was Rs.7.03 lac.
