Not one to mince words, Prof Apte spoke candidly on a variety of issues at the recently held AIMA Directors Conclave.
But first, a little background on the man himself. Prof Apte is an expert in the finance area. He holds a B.Tech degree from IIT, Bombay, a postgraduate diploma in management from IIM Calcutta and a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University, New York. He has published four major books in the areas of finance and economics, and is a consultant to leading corporates and financial institutions like Ernst & Young, Wipro, HDFC and State Bank of India.
SIBM completes Placement 2007 in 6 hours flat
According to SIBMs placement release, the entire batch of 143 students was placed in a matter of 6 hours; 210 offers were received. Olam International made the highest international offer at $85,000 per annum, while the highest domestic offer was Rs. 10.5 lakh per annum by Dell International and Infosys Technologies. Average salary stood at Rs. 8.7 lakh per annum, while median compensation stood at Rs 8 lakh per annum.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Prakash Apte, Director, IIM Bangalore, said, Indian business and the economy is undergoing globalization in many ways. IIM-As Prof PM Shingi to be Dean of FLAME School of Business
A FLAME press release says, FLAME welcomes an illustrious and renowned academic Professor PM Shingi as Dean, FLAME School of Business and the FLAME School of Liberal Education. Prof Shingi will join FLAME from March 2007. Prof Shingi -- PhD holder from the University of Illinois -- was engaged in teaching and research for more than three decades at IIM-A; he was also the Dean there for some time.

The average salary offered stood at Rs 8.77 lakh per annum against last years Rs.7.12 lakh per annum -- a 23% increase. And 63 companies visited the campus, of which 24 were first-timers.
