IRMAs 35th annual convocation was held in Anand on May 30, 2016. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Minister Shipping was Chief Guest on the occasion. He also delivered the convocation address.

IIM Lucknow Lateral Placements witnesses 30% hike in average salaries

Speaking to the MBAUniverse.com, Sushil Kumar, Professor-in-Charge, Corporate Communication & Media Relations, IIM-L said, We have achieved what we expected -- that is 30% hike in average salary. The lateral placement saw 83 IIM Lucknow grads being placed in 40 companies. Students with a minimum of 18-month experience were allowed to participate in the lateral placements

The number of companies vying for the attention of the talented batch saw a meteoric rise of 33% over last year, says Pravin Devanathan, spokesperson for the Placement Committee of IIM Lucknow.

An IIM in every state: good news or bad news?

Government should create more opportunities for students in the country by opening at least one IIM in each state, its report said last week. The committee has also suggested that the number of seats in the existing IIMs be increased.

Responding to the committees recommendations, the government, in its Action Taken Report, said that it has been advising the IIMs to increase their students intake. The government has also recently announced the setting up of the seventh IIM in Shillong.

AICTE issues new guidelines to regulate postgraduate management programs

In a circular, it has announced that all two-year full-time general management programs offered by institutes that are not affiliated to any university be given the title of PGDM. General management programs aimed for executives will have to be called Executive PGDM. The circular makes several other recommendations to regulate the management education sector.

The placement season was officially closed on Tuesday 12 March when all 235 students who participated in Placements 2007 had secured their dream jobs. At the end of Slot Zero, there were only 95 students available for interviewing on Slot One, whereas the last day had only those students who were specifically targeting companies scheduled for Slot Two. A significant portion of the batch (around 60% or 140 students) had been placed or had opted out by the end of the much-coveted Slot Zero of placements, which saw as many as 17 firms on campus.
