Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM)
Executive Fellow Program in Management (FPM) is a doctoral level program of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. The EFPM is the answer to the increasing complexity in the corporate world which is forcing the middle level and senior level executives to search for options that can give them significant edge.
EFPM is uniquely designed to meet learning aspirations of enthusiastic executives and teaching professionals, and will inculcate in them state-of-the-art research skills required for increased understanding of today's complex business world while continuing to work. EFPM is a doctoral program and primarily aims at preparing students for career in management research, teaching and consulting. EFPM helps corporate honchos who are aspiring to gain competency for rigorous research and also create an opportunity for alternate career option.
- For EFPM admission at IIM Lucknow, the Applicants will be shortlisted for the selection interview on the basis of valid score of one of the following exams: Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs, GATE, GRE, GMAT or JRF/SRF (UGC/CSIR/ICAR). Scores of any of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years will only be considered valid.

EFPM is a part time non residential programme. The student is expected to complete the programme ordinarily in five years (four years in case of direct admission to second year). An extension may be granted for a period of maximum 2 years, with approval from the TAC, such that the total duration of the program does not exceed beyond 7 years.
An EFPM student has to do first year course work with Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives (PGPWE). All these courses are compulsory courses. The PGPWE classes are held on alternative weekends at NOIDA Campus of IIM Lucknow.
An EFPM student has to do specialized elective and compulsory courses in second year. In order to do these courses, an EFPM student has to make three visits of 21 days' duration each to NOIDA/ Lucknow Campus during the second year. (During Campus visits, the fee for boarding and lodging facility will be paid by the student on actual basis. The fee will be intimated before the commencement of the term by EFPM office.)
After completing mandatory course work successfully in first and second year, the student needs to take a Comprehensive Examination. After passing the Comprehensive Examination successfully, the student needs to form his/her Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) in consultation with his area's faculty members. After the formation of TAC, the student presents the thesis proposal. The last steps of the programme are Thesis Submission and Defense.

Eligibility criteria for IIM Lucknow FPM (PhD) admission are:
- A Masters' Degree or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks; A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / four-year graduate degree with 65% marks or equivalent grade point average; OR Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA and CS with a minimum 55% aggregate marks and B.Com. as undergraduate degree; Or Graduation in other subjects with 50% marks; OR Applicants already holding a two/ three year-full-time classroom based PGDM from any of the IIM with a minimum CGPA of 6 on 10 points scale or 60%.; OR PGP-WE of IIM Lucknow with a minimum CGPA of 6.

Fellow Programme in Management
Fellow Program in Management (FPM) is a doctoral level program of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. The FPM programme was launched by IIM Lucknow in 2000-2001. The program is of four and half years duration and offers a unique opportunity to those who wish to hone their research talents and develop teaching skills.
FPM at IIM Lucknow is designed to produce high-quality academicians, researchers, and management thinkers by providing an opportunity for interdisciplinary education and research in management. The high academically charged environment of the institute helps scholar to develop and sharpen their intellect. The unique pedagogy and program structure of the FPM curriculum provide an enriching environment for personal and professional growth.
The doctoral program aims to admit individuals with an exceptional academic background, high motivation, discipline, and potential to become excellent researchers at international level. Research scholars are expected to join from diverse disciplines ranging from social sciences and humanities to physical sciences and engineering.

FPM is a full-time residential programme. Students are expected to complete the programme in four years and six months. However, under special circumstances extension of two more years may be granted. The students spend their first two years for course work and the last two years and six months for research and thesis preparation. IIM Lucknow offers campus hostel facility for stay of married students with their immediate family (spouse and children).
During first year of the programme, the scholars acquire knowledge of the discipline and functional areas of management and general management. At the end of the first year, the scholars undergo a summer placement/summer research assignment under the advice/guidance of their Academic Advisor. During second year of the programme the scholars acquire in-depth knowledge of the area of specialization and related fields. In addition, scholars take the FPM compulsory courses, which are specially designed to provide teaching and research skills, and to develop integrated learning.
Scholars will have to do a compulsory Dissertation (2 Credits). On completion of the second year course work which includes dissertation work, the scholars take the comprehensive examination. After passing the comprehensive examination, the candidate enters the thesis writing stage. The candidate first develops a thesis proposal, for which she/he identifies a research topic, identifies the members of the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC), gives a seminar on the thesis proposal to the IIML academic community, and gets the thesis proposal approved by the TAC. On completion of the thesis work, the candidate submits the thesis and defends the same.

Fellow Programme in Management
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), approved by AICTE, is a doctoral-level programme of SPJIMR designed to create world-class researchers and faculty in various management disciplines. Full FPM Full-Time at SPJIMR is a fully-funded residential programme. Every scholar admitted to the full-time programme receives a stipend for the first four years of the programme.
FPM encourages rigorous interdisciplinary research in contemporary areas of management and focuses on relevant and contextual research to address current business issues and aims to create knowledge that helps shape the world for a better future. The programme envisages itself developing independent top-quality management thinkers, thought leaders and consultants making contributions to the domain of management.
The programme can be pursued in full-time and part-time mode depending on the flexibility and requirements of the candidate. It offers equal opportunities to individuals with a passion for research and learning who wish to expand their research skills and working professionals from the corporate world who wish to gain indepth understanding of research methods and understand its practical application to address the contemporary challenges of today’s dynamic business environment.
Scholarship
Every participant admitted as a full-time scholar receives a stipend for the first four years of the programme as below:
During the coursework phase: INR 40,000 per month
Post-clearing the qualifying exam: INR 42,000 per month
Post successful defence of proposal: INR 45,000 per month.
Contingency grants are also offered to the full-time participant to access the necessary equipment and facilities for research. The amount is reimbursed after verification of the submitted bills.
- Every full-time participant is eligible for a contingency grant of INR 25,000 per year for the first four years of the programme to cover research expenses such as the purchase of software, books, stationeries, hardware
- One-time claim of up to INR 40,000 towards the laptop purchase during the first four years of the programme.
- Upon completion of the comprehensive qualifying exam, FPM scholars are entitled to reimburse domestic & international conferences subject to a ceiling of INR 2,30,000 during the entire period of the programme.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The Doctoral Programme (PhD) of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta was started in 1971. It is a full-time doctoral programme to be completed in four to five years. The programme offers opportunities for advanced studies and research in different specializations related to Management Science. The Programme aims to prepare students for careers in teaching and research in management studies and in related disciplines, and for careers in the government, in industry, and in other organizations that require advanced analytical and research capabilities.
On successful completion of the Programme, a student is awarded the Ph.D degree, in his/her area of specialization.
The admission process for IIMC PhD programme is detailed as below:
- Based on the information provided by the applicants in their application, the candidates will be shortlisted (on the recommendation of the respective areas) for interview
- The mode of conducting the Interview i.e either Online / In-person will be notified/intimated well ahead of the process.
- Candidates will be admitted to the programme based on a combination of multiple parameters, as also specified by the respective areas.
- Admission Parameters may include applicant's performance in GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, JRF (NET) score, past academic performance, work experience, interview performance etc.

IIM Calcutta Doctoral Programme offers specializations in Economics, Finance & Control, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behaviour, Public Policy and Management, Strategic Management, Operations Research & Systems Analysis, Regional Development, and Sociology.
Upon joining the programme, students go through coursework in 6 terms spread across 2 academic years and complete at least 90 credits. The academic group that a student joins is treated as the Major area of specialization.
In the first year, students take up at least 15 compulsory credit courses (includes 2 compulsory courses on research methods [qualitative and quantitative], for groups requiring students to do these courses in the first year) and 1 compulsory non-credit course in Qualifying Mathematics. In the second year, students have to take 8 courses in major area (out of which at least six should be doctoral-level advanced courses; if a student has already taken any doctoral-level course in the first year, he/she needs to take the remaining number of doctoral-level advanced courses in the second year out of total six). Minimum of 3 doctoral courses of 3 credits each offered by any academic groups (or mix thereof) other than his/her group of specialization should be taken. Besides, 2 compulsory doctoral level courses on research methods (qualitative and quantitative), for academic groups deciding students to do these courses in the second year should be taken. Students are required to take at most two term papers (in lieu of courses) of which at least one term paper must be in the major area.
In the summer vacation at the end of first year, students undertake a project/research work which is treated as equivalent to 2 credit courses.
The qualifying CGPA for first year is 5.5 while that for the whole period of coursework is 6.0. Students failing to meet the cut-off CGPA are required to withdraw from the programme. After successful completion of coursework, students take a CQE (Comprehensive Qualifying Examination) administered by the respective academic group. Upon successful completion of CQE, a student moves into the thesis or dissertation phase.
Students are required to attend a teaching practicum. Students are required to take up Teaching Assistantship over the tenure of Fellowship for at least one diploma course offered by the academic group.
Applications for IIM Calcutta PhD admission should be submitted online with an application fees of Rs.2000 (Gen category) and Rs.1000 (Reserved category) Along with the online application, you have to upload all the relevant certificates and testimonials and furnish details of your referees. The online application starts tentatively in the first/second week of November. You can apply upto maximum two areas of specialization.
The eligibility criteria to apply for IIMC Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) are as follows:
- First Class Master's or Post graduate diploma (2 years) in any discipline and a three-year Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
- CA with minimum 50% marks or CS/CMA with minimum 55% marks, with B.com degree
- B.Tech/4 years degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent
- Non-engineering candidates who have undergone 10+2+5 years of education
- In addition, the applicant must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examinations of a Board (or equivalent).

Ph.D. Programme
The IIMA Doctoral Programme welcomes individuals with a solid academic foundation, a high level of motivation, and the intellectual curiosity to do innovative research. The curriculum prepares students for careers in academia and industrial research.

Case writing and related research are actively pursued by the faculty and students.
The Doctoral Programme places its graduates in teaching, research, and consulting roles with world class organizations. A total of 451 doctoral students have graduated from IIMA so far.

Candidates applying to the Doctoral Programme are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) or a standard test in lieu of CAT. For NRIs and Foreign students this standard test is the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Different areas of high levels of specialization of IIMA have specified different standard tests that candidates applying to the Doctoral Programme in their areas of high levels of specialization can take in lieu of CAT.
Students spend an average of four to five years in the programme, which includes two years of intensive coursework. Beginning with the first term, students take advanced Doctoral level courses in their area of high levels of specialization, as well as some suggested Post Graduate Programme (PGP) courses that provide a comprehensive management overview and develop fundamental skills for analysing managerial issues. After completing the coursework, students must pass an Area Comprehensive Examination to demonstrate that they have attained a high level of expertise in their area of high levels of specialization. Students then work on their doctoral dissertations. It is intended that these dissertations will make original contributions to an area of management or one of management's parent disciplines.

PhD students are given a comprehensive fellowship that covers all academic expenses including tuition, computer, library, medical insurance, placement and alumni fees, and in addition includes a monthly subsistence allowance from Rs 42000 to Rs.50000.
All students have access to a contingency allowance of Rs.25,000 per year (for five years) to cover research fees, book costs, photocopying, etc. Students are eligible to receive up to Rs.3,00,000/- for attending an international conference/ workshop/ summer school during the first five years of their Doctoral Programme tenure.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The Doctoral Programme in Management at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore prepares students for careers in research and teaching in academic institutions engaged in business management and public policy. IIM PhD is a five-year full time programme which trains students to advance knowledge through theoretical and applied research and engage in their dissemination and implementation. IIM Bangalore supports its students through a generous financial aid package that includes full tuition fee waiver, stipend, subsidized hostel accommodation, start-up grants, travel grants and milestone incentives.
The programme adds substantially to the body of knowledge through research, both applied and - conceptual, and disseminates such knowledge. IIMB PhD students actively engage with its world class faculty work at the cutting edge of research, teaching, and implementation of management research. The PhD programme at IIMB has two main phases: an initial phase of coursework aimed at providing breadth and depth in management disciplines, and a subsequent phased focused on development of the doctoral dissertation under the guidance of a dissertation advisory committee. Periodic milestones are inbuilt in the programme to ensure timely progress towards the degree.
The programme duration is 5 years and has two phases: coursework and thesis research. The first phase covers the first two years and includes the following components: (a) coursework (b) independent study (c) a summer research project at the end of the first academic year. Successful completion of the first phase requires passing the Comprehensive Examination (written and viva) at the end of the second academic year.
The student then begins the second phase focused on the dissertation research. The dissertation work which takes roughly three years has milestones such as formation of Dissertation Advisory Committee, Dissertation Proposal Defense, Dissertation Submission, Dissertation Evaluation, and Public Defense of Dissertation.
Doctoral students also work as a Research Assistants (RA) and Teaching Assistants (TA) periodically during various stages of the Doctoral Programme. Students are expected to graduate at the convocation at the end of their fifth year in the programme.
Eligible candidates should apply online at IIM Bangalore PhD admission official website with application fee of Rs.1000 for one specialization area and Rs.1500 for two specialization area. The candidate can apply for maximum two specialization areas. If the applicant wants to appear in IIMB admission test he/she has to pay Rs.500 extra in addition to the application fees
Students/professionals who want to pursue a career in advanced research and academics (including teaching) are the ideal candidates for IIM Bangalore PhD Program. The applicant should have high scholastic ability, aptitude for research and excellent analytical skills. He/She should have enough motivation to withstand the rigour of the Program. Key eligibility criteria are:
- A Master's Degree (obtained after completing bachelor’s degree) or a 5 year Integrated Master’s Degree in any discipline (OR) Post Graduate Diploma (2 years) with at least 55 percent marks in the bachelor’s as well in the master’s degrees/PG Diploma (50 percent marks for SC, ST and PwD categories) (OR) Professional qualification - CA, ICWA, CS (with at least 50percent marks) with B.com / Degree (45 percent marks for SC, ST and PwD categories). (OR) A 4 year / 8 semesters Bachelor's degree with at least 6.5 CGPA or equivalent marks (6.0 CGPA for SC, ST and PwD categories).
- Candidates who are in the final year of the qualifying Programmes that would make them eligible can also apply.
- Candidates require a valid test score, from any one of the acceptable tests to the area(s) of specialization they are applying to, including GMAT/GRE/CAT 2022/GATE /JRF (NET)/ IIMB Test
IIM Bangalore PhD final selection Parameters include applicant's performance in GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, JRF (NET) score, or IIMB Test (as applicable), past academic performance, work experience, area specific test and / or interview performance.
