Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) is a full-time programme of the Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur (IIMS). Minimum duration of the programme for students who gain admission (into PhD) with B.Tech degree is 4 years. For all other candidates the minimum duration is 3 years. Scholarship
IIM Sirmaur full time PhD scholars are offered various financial supports and stipends to complete the programme hassle free:
Stipend: Full time PhD Students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 30,000 excluding House Rent Allowance (HRA) of Rs 5,000. After clearing the CQE, the monthly stipend will be revised to Rs.35,000 till the end of their fourth year in the programme. The stipend is in addition to tuition fee waiver, books and materials, insurance and other contingency expenses. The support can be extended for six months for a maximum of two times thereafter with the concurrence of the TAC and the DPR Committee. If extended two times, stipend will be paid till 31st May of the student’s fifth year.
Contingency Grant: Contingency Grant of Rs 30,000 per year is allowed on a reimbursement basis for purchase of hardware, software, books, databases, data collection expenses, conference expenses and any other items directly related to the programme for a maximum of 4 years. Any unspent money of the Contingency Grant in one year can be carried forward to future period, as long as the student is registered in the programme.
Conference Grant: Conference Grant will be available to PhD students from June of their second year. PhD students can avail the conference grant for paper presentation provided the grant request should be recommended by the student’s faculty mentor (before TAC formation) or TAC Chairperson (after TAC formation) and will be finally approved by the DPR Chairperson. National conference grant is Rs 60,000 for the duration of the programme. International conference grant is Rs 2,50,000 for 2 international conferences that a PhD student can attend during the course of the programme.

IIM Sirmaur uses the concept of credit to define the weightage of courses in the curriculum. Courses are listed as one, two or three-credit courses depending upon the indicative workload for each course. Generally, a three-credit course involves about 140 hours of work, of which nearly 25% is in the classroom and the rest outside the classroom in the form of preparation and assignments.
The PhD programme starts with coursework and then comes the stage of research. PhD students will pursue the first year of the coursework along with MBA students of IIMS. In the second year, they would be required to study PhD compulsory courses, area compulsory courses based on the student’s area of specialization and other elective courses.
During the first two years, the student undertakes rigorous coursework in overall management courses as well as area courses. This is interspersed with a summer research project for a period of 8-10 weeks. At the end of course work stage, a Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE) will be conducted. On successfully clearing the CQE, students will go to the research stage by submitting and defending their research proposal. After writing the thesis based on the research proposal, students will submit the thesis for evaluation and publicly defend it.

Admission/Selection Process for Candidates for MBA program at IIM Sirmaur is through CAT Exam and IIM CAP PI round. The selection of the candidates for admission to the MBA at IIM Sirmaur is a three-step process- Pre shortlisting, Shortlisting, and participation in IIM CAP PI round
In the first step, candidates are screened as per the IIM Sirmaur admission policy on performance in CAT exam and in the second step they are considered on various parameters for shortlisting for Common Admission Process (CAP) comprising Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for CAP round at common CAT cut offs (94 Percentile last year). CAP is the common PI round for all the CAP participating IIMs.

In addition to the Common Admission Process, IIM Sirmaur will conduct an additional Supernumerary Admission Process (SAP) for candidates especially girl students who meet IIM Sirmaur eligibility criteria at a reduced CAT cut off in shortlisting (80 percentile last year) but do not meet the CAP cut off criteria.
Towards its commitment for promoting gender equity, IIM Sirmaur reserves 50 of the seats for female students. Even though the institute may conduct a separate supernumerary admission interview process to fill these seats reserved for female candidates, the first preference would be given to the qualified female candidates through the CAP process.

PhD is the Doctoral Programme in Management at IIM Bodh Gaya. It is a full-time residential programme of four years. Inaugurated in the year 2020, The Ph.D. Programme of IIM Bodhgaya is a relatively new programme. Despite being in its nascent stage, the programme has managed to make significant strides forward and is constantly evolving in accordance with IIM Bodh Gaya vision and objective to assist the institute in becoming an international centre of excellence in management education. On successful completion of the programme, a student will be awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

IIM Bodh Gaya will provide scholarships to full time Research Students (Ph.D.). It will cover all academic expenses (consisting of tuition, computer, library fees) and hostel fee.
Monthly Stipend of Rs. 32,800 will be provided till Comprehensive Exam and Rs. 35,400 Post Comprehensive Exam. After approval of Thesis proposal, the stipend will go up to Rs. 39,300 per month. Additional Financial Support of Rs. 25,000 per year towards Contingency Grant for 4 years will be provided and Rs.50,000 will be given towards one time Laptop Grant. Apart from this Rs. 1,75,000 towards Conference Grant will be given to attend national and international conferences.
