Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD)
The Doctoral Programme (PhD) of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode is a full-time doctoral programme to be completed in five years. The programme offers opportunities for advanced studies and research in different specializations related to Management Science. The Programme aims to prepare students for careers in teaching and research in management studies and in related disciplines, and for careers in the government, in industry, and in other organizations that require advanced analytical and research capabilities.
The admission process for IIMK PhD programme is detailed as below:
- Based on the information provided by the applicants in their application, the candidates will be shortlisted (on the recommendation of the respective areas) for interview
- Candidates will need to appear in Personal Interview
- Candidates will be admitted to the programme based on a combination of multiple parameters, as also specified by the respective areas.

Candidates must complete their application through the specified online portal/link of IIMK. Candidates may apply to two academic areas of specialization as part of their application. Such candidates must identify their primary and secondary areas of specialization as part of the application form. The application fee (non-refundable) is Rs.1,000 for applying to a single academic area and Rs.1,500 for applying to two academic areas, which has to be remitted online through the link provided with the application form. For candidates who opt for the IIMB Test, an additional amount of Rs.1,000 on top of the above mentioned application fee will need to be remitted online as the IIMB Test fees.
The eligibility criteria to apply for IIMK Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) are as follows:
- Post-graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline (including M.A., M.Com., M.E., M.Phil., M.Sc., M.Tech., MBA, MCA, etc.) with at least 55% aggregate (or equivalent)
- Professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CS along with a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate (or equivalent) in the Bachelor’s degree.
4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 75% aggregate (or equivalent)
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/NC-OBC/EWS categories will be given a relaxation of 5% (or equivalent) in the minimum eligibility marks mentioned above.

- Except for those opting for IIMB Test, a candidate applying for Doctoral Programme of IIMK should have a valid test score not older than three years as on the closing date of submission in CAT, GMAT,GRE, GATE, UGC-JRF-NET or any other acceptable exam

CEMS MIM
IIM Calcutta CEMS MIM program is a one-year program which can be taken up simultaneously with the 2 year flagship PGP program of IIMC. The key distinguishing feature of CEMS MIM is that it brings forth all the stakeholders (schools, companies, students and alumni) together in a collaborative course which is the MIM. Qualifying students have to spend one term (Term V of IIMC 2nd year PGP / Term 1 of CEMS MIM) in any of the CEMS member schools abroad before returning to IIMC for the final term. IIM Calcutta CEMS MIM curriculum is well-planned and designed effectively to ensure that the objective of combining academic knowledge with real-life business practices are met. Students get an opportunity to effectively utilize class-room knowledge in live business situations confronted by global enterprises regularly. Eventually when students graduate from their MIM program, they are armed with knowledge and the experience to perform effectively in their future assignments.
The course is integrated through 5 main categories:
BLOCK SEMINAR: The CEMS MIM program begins with an intensive and concentrated week long session for students called a Block Seminar. The seminar is based on an innovative management topic, which is developed and run by teachers from different disciplines of management with participation from Corporate Partners who bring in the practical aspects of learning. Block seminars are graded.
SKILL SEMINAR: Skill Seminars are training seminars in practical skills relevant to an international management environment. Skill Seminars are organised primarily to introduce and impart practical skills required to function effectively in an international organisation. A total of two, 16 hour each, seminars are to be attended to complete the curriculum requirement.
BUSINESS PROJECT: Business projects have a flavour of a consultancy project wherein international student teams solve a real-life business problem faced by a company.
INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP: Students are expected to undertake a minimum of 8 weeks international internship project outside the country of the home school. During the internship, students apply their academic knowledge to practical real-life situations faced in corporate environments.
