Indian Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat to preside over TISS convocation
Mr Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the Honourable Vice President of India, will be the chief guest at the occasion where the outgoing graduates of TISS will receive their diplomas, degrees, certificates and awards.
Mr Shekhawat has been Vice-President of India since August 2002, when he was elected to the five-year term by the electoral college following the death of his predecessor, Mr Krishan Kant. He was also a member of the National Democratic Alliance at the time of his election, and had served three times as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

IIMs-HRD Min Impasse: SC to hear quota plea today
The Centres plea will come up for hearing before a bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and L S Panta, which had stayed the implementation of certain provisions of the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admissions) Act enabling a quota in institutions like IIMs, IITs and AIIMS.

Commerce secretary and Chairman of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Mr G K Pillai, in his convocation address at IIFT, said, Management education in todays world cannot be complete without in-depth understanding of international trade.
He observed that India has met its target of US $ 125 billion in exports during the fiscal 2006-07 in spite of increasing non-tariff barriers as well as rising rupee. An increased export target of US $160 billion for the year 2007-08 and an export target of $ 200 billion for 2008-09 have been set.
