Integrated B.Tech.-MBA Program
IIM Amritsar offers Integrated B.Tech. – MBA Program (IBM) jointly by IIM Amritsar and NIT Jalandhar. The program integrates the curriculum of B.Tech. degree from NIT Jalandhar and MBA degree from IIM Amritsar in 5 years, thereby saving one academic year for the students. Admission to the program will be through an entrance test conducted by IIM Amritsar followed by a Personal Interview. All 4th semester students of NIT Jalandhar are eligible to apply for the program.
The first year MBA curriculum will be covered in semesters 5-8 of the B.Tech. program. Students will also get an opportunity to do summer internships in managerial roles at the end of 8th semester. The program covers the entire MBA curriculum offered by IIM Amritsar. Courses normally covered in the 1st year of MBA at IIM Amritsar will be covered in Semesters 5-8 of the B.Tech. program through lectures in hybrid mode. In the final year of the IBM program, students are expected to take a minimum of 16 units and a maximum of 18 units of electives divided over three terms. The courses taught in the first year of the MBA program will be covered over semesters 5-8 of the B.Tech. curriculum. These courses will be taught in offline mode. The doctoral program at IIM Amritsar is 4 years full time PhD programme. The programme is aimed at producing high quality researchers and effective management teachers. The program will train participants to adopt a scientific approach to study phenomenon of interest to them and to disseminate this knowledge through scientific publications, teaching, and organizational interventions.

IIM Amritsar program structure includes compulsory course work, comprehensive examination, thesis proposal, and doctoral level research (including thesis work). - You need to upload your recent color photograph (passport size) and qualifying examination’s scorecard (in the PDF format)
A candidate for the programme must have Master’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with first class, OR B.Tech. / 4 Years Degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent, OR Any professional qualification such as CA/ ICWA/ CS/CFA- Level-II (USA) with a graduate degree in the relevant subject with a minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average.
Those who are appearing for their final year of Master’s / Bachelor’s examination in the current academic year may also apply.
Candidates who fulfil the above eligibility criteria and seeking admission into the programme must take CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, JRF (UGC/CSIR) (in the respective specialization) examinations are eligible to apply in the relevant area of specialization. Scores of these examinations (including CAT) taken during the last two years are acceptable
- Candidates who fulfil the above eligibility criteria and apply for IIM Amritsar PhD admission must take CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, JRF (UGC/CSIR) (in the respective specialization). Scores of these examinations (including CAT) taken during the last two years are acceptable
- The candidates short-listed on the basis of their academic record, performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above, and research interests will be called for a personal interview (including Research Aptitude Test and Written Analysis Test) for final selection
- The successful candidates will receive admission offers from IIM Amritsar
IIM Amritsar provides limited financial assistance to its doctoral students including monthly fellowship, annual contingency grant, and research grant to attend conferences / workshops. Following financial assistance and scholarships are offered to PhD scholars:
- A consolidated doctoral fellowship amount of Rs 40,000 per month during the first and second years of the program.
- A consolidated doctoral fellowship amount of Rs 45,000 per month after successful completion of the comprehensive examination, i.e., starting from the third year to the end of the fourth year or till the submission of the thesis, whichever is earlier.
- A one-time computer purchase grant of Rs. 50,000 at the end of the course work, i.e. after the successful completion of a comprehensive examination.
- Rs. 25,000 per year (for four years) as contingency grant to cover expenses related to attending conferences, workshops, purchase of books, and relevant research activities on a reimbursement basis
- Rs.1,75,000/- (upper limit) for attending international conferences/workshops during their entire tenure
- The students are provided medical insurance as per the Institute’s student welfare policy
