IIM Shillong offers 4 years full time doctoral programme – PhD in Management.
The program is immersive, rigorous and interdisciplinary. Field work with a deep industry connect forms an integral part of study. An important part of the programme is dissertation which begins in year three. On completion of the programme candidates will be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by IIM Shillong.
The scholars are expected to complete the program in four years. However, in case the programme is not completed within the stipulated time, the participants may be allowed to have two more years to complete the programme.
Application should be submitted with a tentative research proposal, wherein the candidate will have to present the tentative research problem proposed to be researched upon.

The commitment to the Doctoral program is four years which includes an enriching research focused, out-put oriented course work. The scholars are expected to complete the program in four years and ensure that they complete the requirements of the program within this stipulated time. However, the candidates who are unable to complete the program within the stipulated time may be allowed to continue in the program depending upon their progress. After completion of four years into the program an extension of two years may be granted subject to approval from the Doctoral Committee.
In the first year, the structure of course work comprises core, flexi-core, and research based courses leading to an understanding of management discipline, building theoretical foundations in the core area, develop basic skills for analyzing managerial problems and instill research interest. In their second year, the scholars will undergo Term-IV courses. As part of Term-IV courses, the scholar will undertake two credits from the PGP Basket of electives in consultation with their supervisors. The participant will start working on the primary research problem of the PhD thesis under the guidance of the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC).
From third year onwards, the doctoral dissertation work provides them with an opportunity to make original contributions to an area of management or to one of its disciplines. The scholar is expected to work towards presenting papers at a conference, journal publications and other scholarly contributions. The candidate will have to prepare and submit the doctoral thesis and then submit the duly modified thesis for evaluation. Every scholar is expected to work at least 10 hours every week during the third and fourth year as Research/Teaching Assistant with a faculty member

- Qualified Common Admission Test (CAT) held by IIMs in last 2 years form the date of application, or Qualified GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examination and have a valid score
- Candidates who have already obtained a two-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with a CPGA equivalent to 60% or more are exempted from the above requirement and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.

Eligibility criteria for admission to IIM Mumbai PhD programme include:
A master’s degree or Two-year Post Graduate Diploma (obtained after completing a bachelor's degree with 55% marks or equivalent) or a 5-year Integrated master’s degree (obtained after completing higher secondary school in the 10+2 pattern) in any field with 55% marks or equivalent.
(OR), Professional qualification - CA, CS, CMA (with a minimum of 50% marks) in addition to a bachelor's degree (with at least 55% marks).
(OR), A four-year / eight-semester bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 6.5/10 or comparable grades.
Candidates in their last year of a Master's/ bachelor’s programme that would qualify them to apply may also apply.

IIM Bangalore MBA curricula, innovative teaching methods, exposure to industry-best practices and experiential learning emphasize the distinctive challenges of managing in the global context. Various clubs, social projects, action-oriented courses, contemporary studies and student self-governance initiatives help develop critical thinking and leadership skills.
IIMB MBA programme offers Core and Elective courses. The Core courses are compulsory courses offered in the first year. Elective courses are offered in the third term of the first year and all terms of the second year, where students get the opportunity to choose from a basket of multidisciplinary courses. IIMB courses are delivered through a combination of lectures, classroom discussions, industry interactions, case analyses, individual and group projects, term papers, role plays, dissertations, simulations, business games, films, and various experiential learning methods.
