PhD in Management
Full-time Ph.D scholars at IIM Sambalpur are exempted from tuition/programme fee. However, the selected candidates will have to deposit an offer of acceptance fee of INR 50,780 to confirm the acceptance of the offer out of which an amount of INR 44,000 will be refunded after completion of the programme by the candidate, else it will be forfeited and an amount of INR 6000/- (excluding GST @ 18%) will be adjusted towards alumni fee (Non-Refundable).
IIM Sambalpur provides a comprehensive fellowship that covers all academic expenses including tuition, computer, library, medical insurance, placement, and alumni fees. In addition, a monthly subsistence allowance of Rs.35,000/- for first and second years, and Rs. 40,000/- after submitting the TAC approved thesis proposal will be provided till 4 years.
A maximum of two six-month extensions may be provided subject to the recommendation of the Doctoral Committee and Competent Authority. Since the PhD is a full-time residential programme, bachelor accommodation will be provided to all the students in the hostel. IIM Sambalpur Executive Ph.D. Programme is a unique doctoral programme (Ph.D.) in management designed specifically for working professionals with a minimum of five years of full-time work experience. The Programme intends to provide industry professionals an opportunity to build career in academia.
IIM Sambalpur Executive PhD programme in Management has a duration four years with facility of extension upto two more years. The Executive PhD will be a part time programme. Candidates who apply online for admission into PGDM will be shortlisted on the basis of Entrance Score (CAT/XAT/CMAT or GMAT score)
Academic Record
Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the final stage of the selection process – the Individual Assessment Individual Assessment Process (Personal Interview) will be held in January/ February 2026(tentative). Past academic records, performance in the individual assessment process along with other qualitative parameters, like quality of work experience and extra-curricular activities constitute the core components of the selection process. The IMI Kolkata Admissions Committee reserves the right to modify these components while communicating these to the applicants at the Individual Assessment stage. The overall objective will be to identify and assess the candidate’s potential for a managerial career.
Personal Interview
The last stage of the procedure is the Personal Interview round in which students are evaluated based on their knowledge of current events, oral communication skills, domain knowledge of their degree, and work experience (if any). This is an extensive session with a panel that includes representatives of the faculty, business houses, and alumni. Students are also assigned a topic for the extempore round, which assesses their ability to think on their feet.
Applicants should note that mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria may not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IMI Kolkata. IMI Kolkata will not entertain any correspondence on this subject and decisions of the IMI Kolkata Admissions Committee will be final in all matters.
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The Postgraduate Programme in Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. It has been the flagship programme of the institute since its inception. Currently, IIM Ranchi admits around 250 to 260 students per year through Common Admission Test (CAT), followed by personal interviews. Admission/Selection Process for Candidates for MBA at IIM Ranchi is through CAT. The selection of the candidates for admission to the PGP at IIM Ranchi is a two-step process.
The Postgraduate management programme is full-time residential. It is divided into six terms, spread over two years. The programme’s first year enables students to develop a fundamental understanding of different management areas. The second year comprises specialised elective courses from various management areas over three terms. The students must compulsorily complete a summer internship project for eight weeks between the first and second years. Students who want to acquire a deeper understanding of any topic or explore a topic in depth can also pursue a course of independent study under the guidance of a faculty member.
Register and apply for CAT exam by paying the requisite application fee for the exam. On the page 4 of CAT application form, you need to select IIM Ranchi MBA and other programs and select the interview city. Your application for IIM Ranchi admission is submitted. You do not need to apply and pay separately for IIM Ranchi Admission. After declaration of CAT exam result, you can check at IIM Ranchi as well as IIM CAP website whether you are shortlisted by entering your CAT registration ID and password
- IIM Ranchi Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- The candidate should appear in CAT exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to be considered for shortlisting.
- Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for Admission.
In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Common Admission Process (CAP) comprising Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. Detailed Admission process is as below:
- The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for CAP round which is the common PI round for CAP participating IIMs.
- Candidates are shortlisted from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme
- After the PI round, IIM Ranchi will award weightages to various parameters and admission offers are made by IIMU to successful candidates.
- The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in CAP round, academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience among others
- Admission offer letter would be sent to all successful candidates. Candidates, who are offered admission, need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities by the stipulated date.
