The Executive PhD participants at IIM Sirmaur are expected to complete their thesis in four to six years. In the initial phase, there will be six months of coursework and courses will be offered in the participants’ area of specialization. This will be followed by a Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE). After successfully clearing the CQE, participants will graduate to the research phase of the programme under the supervision of Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC). Doctoral scholars are expected to submit their thesis by the end of fifth year.
There will be two terms within the six months of coursework. Online classes will be conducted over the weekends. There will be a campus visit scheduled each term for one week for off-line classes and interaction.

Candidate should attach Supporting Documents including Certified copies of mark sheets or transcripts of grades obtained during the course of study for the above degrees; Two references with their contact details and their respective email IDs from academics who have taught the candidate or with whom the candidate has worked closely on scholarly work; Copies of Work Experience Certificates; Caste Certificate (if applicable); Candidates with work experience shall have to submit the No-Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of admission
IIM Sirmaur has prescribed following eligibility criteria for admission to Executive PhD programme admission:
- Entrance Test: Candidates require a valid test score of CAT/GMAT/GATE/ GRE/UGC-JRF or IIM Sirmaur’s Research Aptitude Test (RAT)
- Academic Qualification: Candidates must have obtained any one of the following qualifications after higher secondary school (10+2) or equivalent A Master's Degree in any discipline with 55 percent marks or a two-year post-graduate diploma with at least 55 percent marks along with a Bachelor’s degree with at least 55 per cent marks; Or A 5-year Integrated Master’s Degree with at least 55 per cent marks; Or, A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS (with at least 50 per cent marks) along with Bachelor’s degree (with at least 55 per cent marks); Or 4 year/ 8 semester’s Bachelor's degree (10+2+4 pattern) with at least 6 CGPA.
- Work Experience: Applicants must have work experience of at least 10 years after graduation, either in industry or academics
- Internal Research Aptitude Test (RAT): On the day of the interview, IIM Sirmaur will conduct an offline Research Aptitude Test at IIM Sirmaur

IIM Sirmaur Master of Business Administration is the flagship master’s level programme, leading to the grant of a degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Master of Business Administration is a two-year, full time residential programme with wide range of specializations.

In addition to the Common Admission Process, IIM Sirmaur will conduct an additional Supernumerary Admission Process (SAP) for candidates especially girl students who meet IIM Sirmaur eligibility criteria at a reduced CAT cut off in shortlisting (80 percentile last year) but do not meet the CAP cut off criteria.
Towards its commitment for promoting gender equity, IIM Sirmaur reserves 50 of the seats for female students. Even though the institute may conduct a separate supernumerary admission interview process to fill these seats reserved for female candidates, the first preference would be given to the qualified female candidates through the CAP process.

IIM Sirmaur has an invigorating curriculum for MBA programme. IIM Sirmaur MBA is a two-year, full time residential programme. The first year coursework is spread over three terms. It comprises core courses that explain the fundamental concepts of management across the different functional areas. The courses in the first year curriculum are mandatory for all the students. The first year coursework is followed by a summer internship. During the summer internship, students are required to work on an industry project with an organization for a period of eight to ten weeks. The summer placement is an integral part of the Master of Business Administration. The Placement Office assists the students in finding suitable summer assignments.
The second year coursework is spread over the next three terms (Term IV to Term VI). The second year students are offered elective courses across different functional areas such as marketing, finance, economics, strategy, decision sciences, analytics, information technology, organizational behaviour, human resources, operations & supply chain. Monthly Stipend of Rs. 32,800 will be provided till Comprehensive Exam and Rs. 35,400 Post Comprehensive Exam. After approval of Thesis proposal, the stipend will go up to Rs. 39,300 per month. Additional Financial Support of Rs. 25,000 per year towards Contingency Grant for 4 years will be provided and Rs.50,000 will be given towards one time Laptop Grant. Apart from this Rs. 1,75,000 towards Conference Grant will be given to attend national and international conferences.

PhD in Management
Full-time Ph.D scholars at IIM Sambalpur are exempted from tuition/programme fee. The PhD Programme at IIM Sambalpur is composed of two phases-Course Work and Thesis Work. The full time PhD curriculum for each phase is as below:
- Phase-1: Course Work: The course-work consists of Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme – level courses; General Core Courses; Domain-Specific Courses and Course of Independent Study (CIS).
