Application process for admission at IIM Ahmedabad opens with the start of CAT  registration process. Candidates have to apply for CAT by the last date. There is no need to apply and pay separately for IIM Ahmedabad Admission

The selection of candidates for admission to the 2024-26 Batch of PGP-FABM at IIM Ahmedabad is a two-step process.

In the first step, candidates will be short-listed for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interviews (PI) from among candidates who have applied for the programme and have a valid CAT score and satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme.

Shortlisting and Selection Criteria for PGP-FABM 2024-26 Batch
For shortlisting the candidates for PGP-FABM admissions, 65% weightage will be given to the scores of CAT and 35% weightage to the Application Rating Score. Since the programme is sector-specific and prefers candidates with relevant educational background, the candidates with bachelor’s or master’s degree in agricultural sciences or agriculture-related disciplines will be preferred while short-listing for Analytical Writing Test and Personal Interview.

Curriculum

IIM PGP-FABM programme curriculum has a solid managerial foundation, a focus on food and agribusiness marketplace, and is designed to build and enhance a global perspective among participants. The course comprises three components: the core management courses, compulsory food and agribusiness related courses and electives courses. The core programme consists of 34 core management courses encompassing 23.3 credits in the first year and is common with the PGP to enhance learning due to multiple perspectives and competitiveness. The first year is spread over three terms, each of which is often to twelve weeks’ duration. The compulsory package in the programme is designed to: 

  •  Provide basic conceptual and analytical knowledge and inculcate attitudes and skills necessary for managerial effectiveness in different functional areas of agri-business management.
  • Develop an integrated view of organizational and managerial functioning and an understanding of the interdependencies of subsystems; and
  • Create awareness and understanding of environmental forces impinging on managerial behavior.

Following the first year programme, students undergo Rural Immersion in two phases for a period of about four weeks and summer internship for a period of eight weeks with the institute’s corporate partners, which provide students field and organizational experience. 

The second year of the programme consists of compulsory as well as elective courses and is designed to impart specialized multi-functional knowledge and skills required by food and agri-business sector managers for excellence in planning, decision-making, organization and implementation in different sub-sectors and activities in the sector including agriculture, food, and agribusiness, rural and allied sectors. The graduates of PGP-FABM are awarded the ‘MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (Food and Agri-business Management)'

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in agricultural sciences or agriculture-related disciplines, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. In case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, this is relaxed to 45%. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

In case the candidate has obtained bachelor’s degree in Non Agriculture Area, the candidate would be treated eligible if he/she has keen interest in Agriculture and allied activities, Food processing, Rural development among others. Besides the candidate must appear in CAT exam and score well to clear the overall and sectional cut off for shortlisting.

IIM Ahmedabad has instituted a number of scholarships to the PGP-FABM students which include Need-Based Scholarship Scheme; scholarships offered by Government of India, by Industry and Corporate Sector, by IIM-A Alumni, Scholarships for Entrepreneurship, Scholarships for reserved category and minority students among others.

IIMA has a Special Need-based scholarship. It is the endeavour of the Institute that no student be denied opportunity to pursue the two year PGP-FABM for want of adequate financial resources. All students admitted to the PGP-FABM whose gross annual family income is below Rs.15,00,000 during the previous financial year are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

IIMA offers Scholarships for students who graduate from IIMA and going for entrepreneurship to encourage the graduating students to become entrepreneurs. The Institute has decided to initiate a scheme of providing a monthly stipend of Rs.30,000/- for at most three consecutive years to two students from every batch.

IIMA also offers Scholarships for students who graduate from IIMA and join “Not-for-Proft” organization In order to encourage students to opt for jobs in NGOs. From every batch two students will be given financial assistance for three consecutive years at the most to facilitate paying out a part of their bank loans they availed for studying in IIMA.

IIM Ahmedabad offers Assistance ships for students who graduate from IIMA and pursue doctoral studies to encourage them to go for doctoral studies in India or abroad.  Two students will be given this scholarship for at most three consecutive years

Admission Process for Candidates for MBA Business Analytics at IIM Bangalore is through CAT. The admission of the candidates for admission to the MBA BA (PGPBA) at IIM Bangalore is a two-step process:

In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. Detailed Admission process is as below:

  • The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for PI round which is conducted in many cities  
  •  
  • Candidates are shortlisted from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme   
  • After the PI round, IIM Bangalore will award weightages to various parameters and admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates.

Curriculum

The MBA Business Analytics (PGPBA) at IIM Bangalore programme offers Core and Elective courses. Core courses are compulsory courses offered in the first year and second year. Elective courses are offered in the second year, where students get the opportunity to choose from a basket of multidisciplinary courses and courses with functional depth in Analytics. 

IIMB courses are delivered through a combination of lectures, classroom discussions, industry interactions, case analyses, individual and group projects, term papers, role plays, dissertations, simulations, business games, films, and various experiential learning methods. During the first year, a PGP-BA student is required to undertake eighteen core courses (totalling 49.5 credits). The first year consists of three terms, Summer internship programme is scheduled between the end of first year and the beginning of second year with a firm in the Analytics domain. Internship is optional for students who have at least 34 months of work experience prior to enrolling for the programme.

The PGP-BA student should take the four core courses in Term IV and at least four electives (12 credits) in the analytics domain (labelled as field electives) across Terms IV, V and VI. The remaining credits can be taken from either the analytics domain (field elective) or any other general management electives (free electives). A PGP-BA student should earn a minimum of 45 credits and a maximum of 51 credits in the second year. 

The electives cover a wide array of topics including Social Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure Development, PPPs and Regulation, Business Analytics and Intelligence, Spreadsheet Model-Business Decision, Current Economic Scenario; Indian Economy and Policy Matters for Business, Global Securities Markets, Corporate Governance: Indian and International Perspective, Corporate Valuation, Digital Marketing, Research for Marketing Decisions, Brand Management, Entrepreneurship in Action, Personal Values, Goals and Career Options, Creating High Performance Organizations, Supply Chain Management, Technology and Operations Strategy, Green Business Management, Strategic Thinking and Decision Making Apart from electives on functional areas, IIMB also offers different types of courses such as language courses (German, French, Spanish and Japanese), courses with international immersion (like Business Planning in International Markets, Developing Technology Partnerships between Firms in India and Israel), and experiential courses (like the Himalayan Mountain Challenge and Motorcycle Immersion in Local Entrepreneurial Settings), based on the interest of students.

The final selection process for MBA Business Analytics admission to IIM Bangalore is based on students’ academic performance, their CAT score, performance in the admission interview and prior work experience. Following steps are included in the IIM Bangalore final selection process:

Step 1: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have excellent academics, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Bangalore

Step 2: IIM Bangalore will identify many candidates for shortlisting for the PI round with an excellent academic record and work experience but who may have narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for the PI shortlist. Such candidates will be preferred in the shortlisting process as against those who have only a high CAT score but have poor academic profile and poor quality of work experience.  The emphasis in shortlisting process at IIM Bangalore is on consistent and high performance in academics and other parameters. 

Step 3: After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in WAT & PI, Performance in past academics, Performance in CAT, Quality of Work Experience among others

Step 4: Final Admission Offer will be made by IIM Bangalore to the candidates on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.
Candidates, who are finally selected, need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities by the stipulated date.
