PGPWE is a 2-year MBA program where regular live classes are held over electronic mode, and the participants experience in-campus immersion for selected days. It is designed for professionals who wish to revisit an academic environment without taking a career break. PGPWE participants continue to work while they study, and thus the application of classroom learning is instantaneous.
MBA WE is designed for professionals who aspire for greater roles in their organisations. This general management program is beneficial to professionals in business and industry, not-for-profit organizations, government and policy, research, and academics. MBAWE curriculum is spread over 24 months and is taught in hybrid mode – Online as well as class room sessions. The program offers key specialization areas to choose from. MBAWE program employs technology to enhance learning. Besides, IIM Shillong stresses in-person participation in classroom discussions, considered critical to the learning experience. PhD in Management
IIM Shillong offers 4 years full time doctoral programme – PhD in Management.
The program is immersive, rigorous and interdisciplinary. Field work with a deep industry connect forms an integral part of study. An important part of the programme is dissertation which begins in year three. On completion of the programme candidates will be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by IIM Shillong.
The scholars are expected to complete the program in four years. However, in case the programme is not completed within the stipulated time, the participants may be allowed to have two more years to complete the programme.
Application should be submitted with a tentative research proposal, wherein the candidate will have to present the tentative research problem proposed to be researched upon.

The commitment to the Doctoral program is four years which includes an enriching research focused, out-put oriented course work. The scholars are expected to complete the program in four years and ensure that they complete the requirements of the program within this stipulated time. However, the candidates who are unable to complete the program within the stipulated time may be allowed to continue in the program depending upon their progress. After completion of four years into the program an extension of two years may be granted subject to approval from the Doctoral Committee.
In the first year, the structure of course work comprises core, flexi-core, and research based courses leading to an understanding of management discipline, building theoretical foundations in the core area, develop basic skills for analyzing managerial problems and instill research interest. In their second year, the scholars will undergo Term-IV courses. As part of Term-IV courses, the scholar will undertake two credits from the PGP Basket of electives in consultation with their supervisors. The participant will start working on the primary research problem of the PhD thesis under the guidance of the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC).
From third year onwards, the doctoral dissertation work provides them with an opportunity to make original contributions to an area of management or to one of its disciplines. The scholar is expected to work towards presenting papers at a conference, journal publications and other scholarly contributions. The candidate will have to prepare and submit the doctoral thesis and then submit the duly modified thesis for evaluation. Learning will be rigorous and delivered through Online Synchronous Classes, Asynchronous, self-paced learning and Campus immersion.
The first year of the programme will comprise eight modules of six weeks each. Core (compulsory) courses worth 44 credits would be covered in this year. Elective courses are offered in the second year of the programme over three modules of 12 weeks each. The final module is dedicated to an end-of-programme capstone dissertation.
During the second year of study, participants may choose courses from a bouquet of various electives. Three campus immersions will be conducted - a 2 day induction bootcamp, a 5 day deep dive, and a programme closing wrap-up. The international immersion is optional and will be organized at the end of the programme based on the intention expressed by participants. The 1-2 additional campus immersions and international immersion are optional and will be organized based on the interest shown by the participants.
Participants may consume the asynchronous content in a self-paced manner. Participants will have the opportunity to attend 15 to 30 hours of synchronous sessions per course (depending on the credits), judiciously spread across the term of the course. Synchronous sessions will be scheduled on evenings and weekends. Peer group discussions and tutorials will also be scheduled by the course faculty. The Fellow Programme in Management (non-residential) is designed to cater to the scholarly needs of working business executives. Admission process for MDI FPM programme is as below:

The Fellow Programme in Management has to be completed within 4 years after the registration, which may be extended up to 7 years maximum (seven years) depending on the merit of the case and favorable review of work progress by the FPM Committee. The FPM Programme consists of two phases. The first phase of the Programme involves course work, followed by a Comprehensive Research Evaluation. The second phase requires scholars to work on their thesis, which involves the preparation of a thesis proposal, writing of the thesis, a final Viva Voce, an examination based on the thesis.
The student is required to take First Year courses of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). These courses are approximately of three months duration. Only after completion of PGDM level course work, can the student start with FPM level course work. Scholars who already hold an MBA degree are exempted from this course work requirement. Fellow-level courses consititute three levels General Core Courses, Area Core Courses and Elective Courses.

OPJEMS Scholarship: This merit based scholarship by OP Jindal Group, is given to MBA(IB) first year and second year students of Delhi campus. First ten toppers from 1st year and first ten toppers from 2nd Year will be nominated by the Institute. On the basis of online test and interview conducted by OP Jindal Group, selected students will be awarded an amount of Rs.1.50 lakhs as scholarship.
Doctoral Programme in Management
IIFT offers 3 years full time Ph.D. Programme in Management. The programme covers Doctoral research in a variety of business related areas leading to the award of Ph.D degree. The programme is targeted at research scholars, members of teaching faculty in universities and institutes of higher learning, professionals from private, public and government sectors. The main objectives of the Ph.D. Programme are to facilitate pursuing higher studies and advanced research in International Business; to encourage and doing research on contemporary issues in the field of International Business; to encourage publication of research papers in academic journals, occasional papers, monographs, books and other publications.
One of the primary purposes of doctoral studies is to encourage in-depth analysis and enrich knowledge in the chosen field. This includes the ability to apply independently methodologies of scientific research as well as to create new scientific knowledge. Further, the candidate should demonstrate an ability to analyze critically research results and to understand their importance in the relevant context. Skills to present and to effectively communicate research results are needed in order to succeed in postgraduate studies.
