The first four terms cover the core courses, with the majority completed in the initial three terms, providing students with a strong foundation in management. After Term 3, every student undertakes a compulsory summer internship of eight to ten weeks to gain practical exposure. In the second year, students can choose elective courses to specialize in up to two functional areas from Accounting & Finance, Operations Management, Marketing, Strategy, or Information Management. MDI Gurgaon follows a continuous evaluation system, where students earn letter grades in each course, and the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is computed as the credit-weighted average of all grade points earned. Programme Structure/ Term Schedule
- The programme has five terms of course work followed by a dissertation project.
- An academic term is of twelve weeks duration which includes mid-term and end-term examination.
- A participant has to earn a minimum 103.5 credits from 32 courses in which 21 are core courses and 11 are elective courses (3 credits from 29 courses & 1.5 credits from 3 courses) plus 9 credits from dissertation.

Doctoral Programme in Management
IIFT offers 3 years full time Ph.D. Programme in Management. The programme covers Doctoral research in a variety of business related areas leading to the award of Ph.D degree. The programme is targeted at research scholars, members of teaching faculty in universities and institutes of higher learning, professionals from private, public and government sectors. The main objectives of the Ph.D. Programme are to facilitate pursuing higher studies and advanced research in International Business; to encourage and doing research on contemporary issues in the field of International Business; to encourage publication of research papers in academic journals, occasional papers, monographs, books and other publications.
One of the primary purposes of doctoral studies is to encourage in-depth analysis and enrich knowledge in the chosen field. This includes the ability to apply independently methodologies of scientific research as well as to create new scientific knowledge. Further, the candidate should demonstrate an ability to analyze critically research results and to understand their importance in the relevant context. Skills to present and to effectively communicate research results are needed in order to succeed in postgraduate studies. There is no Programme fee for Indian Full Time Ph.D. Scholars. They are offered scholarships and financial assistance. Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including course work (two semesters), from the date of admission to the Ph.D. Programme. During the first year, selected scholars need to complete the coursework at the Institute covering two semesters. First ten toppers from 1st year and first ten toppers from 2nd Year will be nominated by the Institute. On the basis of online test and interview conducted by OP Jindal Group, selected students will be awarded an amount of Rs.1.50 lakhs as scholarship.
Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP)
The two-year Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at IIM Indore is a full-time residential course for graduates from all disciplines who wish to choose a career in management. The PGP Programme at IIM Indore is highly ranked one. With the enactment of “The Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017” on January 24, 2017, IIM Indore is now empowered with the legal authority to award MBA degrees. The programme is also recognized by the Association of Indian Universities and is considered now an M.B.A. Degree programme.
In the second year of PGP, electives give participants a deeper understanding of different functional areas and enable them to specialize in areas of their choice. The participants are encouraged to select courses in specific domains such as Analytics, Ecom./IT/ITES, BFS, FMCG, Insurance and Infrastructure. The emphasis is on the application of knowledge gained, in the form of projects, group exercises and case discussions. Guest lectures and workshops further enrich their learning.

The Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management at IIM Indore aims to groom participants into competent professional managers with a capacity to learn and adapt to national and international environment. In the first year, students are offered core courses in management. Skill Development Courses including Communication, Leadership, Spreadsheet Modeling, Entrepreneurial Orientation, Innovation and Design Thinking and Sustainability are taught in a workshop-based format
Students visit a company once a week in the first year of the Programme. They are required to carry out a study on various industries and key players in the industry. IIM Indore students participate in a wide range of extra and co-curricular activities which include IRIS (The Annual Management & Cultural Festival) and Utsaha (Rural Marketing Fair). Rural immersion programme is conducted to enable the participants to understand the social context in which organizations work and exist.
In the second year, new curriculum features a large number of domain concentrations which consist of both regular courses taught by industry faculty and workshop courses taught by industry practitioners. The Programme has a unique matrix based structure wherein participants take 10% credits in ‘Industry Vertical Courses’ and 10% credits in ‘Functional Area Courses’ in addition to the general management credits.
IIM Indore conducts Himalaya outbound programme for PGP-II students to motivate them to perform in an unfamiliar ambience and work as a team. An initiative to blend theory and practice is the hiring of professors of practice, which allows industry professionals with 15-20 years of experience to become a part of the IIM Indore full-time faculty. IIM Indore offers participant-centered approach to management education.
