PhD is the Doctoral Programme in Management at IIM Bodh Gaya. It is a full-time residential programme of four years. Inaugurated in the year 2020, The Ph.D. Programme of IIM Bodhgaya is a relatively new programme. Despite being in its nascent stage, the programme has managed to make significant strides forward and is constantly evolving in accordance with IIM Bodh Gaya vision and objective to assist the institute in becoming an international centre of excellence in management education. On successful completion of the programme, a student will be awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

Academics: Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications to apply for IIM Bodh Gaya’s doctoral programme: Master’s degree in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average, or Professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average, or Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent, or Four Year/Eight Semester Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech./ B. IIM Bodh Gaya will provide scholarships to full time Research Students (Ph.D.). It will cover all academic expenses (consisting of tuition, computer, library fees) and hostel fee.
Monthly Stipend of Rs. 32,800 will be provided till Comprehensive Exam and Rs. 35,400 Post Comprehensive Exam. After approval of Thesis proposal, the stipend will go up to Rs. 39,300 per month. Additional Financial Support of Rs. 25,000 per year towards Contingency Grant for 4 years will be provided and Rs.50,000 will be given towards one time Laptop Grant. IIM Rohtak One-Year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPx) is divided into three terms. There are total 29 courses offered in the programme in the 3 terms. Each term consists of 9/10 courses. There are 370 Online class sessions and 75 Online sessions (On campus). The programme also consists of 180 Project work assignments.
There will be total 625 hours of sessions including 12 campus visits with 3 campus visits per term. However, total campus visits are 12 days overall.

50% marks or equivalent CGPA in graduation from any AIU approved academic institution. Those graduating in 2026 may also apply.
Education background
To be eligible for admission to the PGDM Programme, the participants must possess a bachelor’s equivalent degree, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent in any discipline, from a recognised university in India or abroad (recognised by the UGC / Association of Indian Universities). However, the final selection may be based on a higher cut-off percentage depending on the total number of applicants for the programme. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling under the 10+2 system or equivalent. Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor’s degree or equivalent are also eligible, provided they furnish proof of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria by September 30, 2026. Candidates who are unable to comply with this requirement are liable to be rejected from the programme. It is desirable that candidates complete all academic requirements before enrolling for the programme to help them keep pace with the rigour and assessment parameters of the programme.

Candidates who apply online for admission into PGDM will be shortlisted on the basis of Entrance Score (CAT/XAT/CMAT or GMAT score)
Academic Record
Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the final stage of the selection process – the Individual Assessment Individual Assessment Process (Personal Interview) will be held in January/ February 2026(tentative). Past academic records, performance in the individual assessment process along with other qualitative parameters, like quality of work experience and extra-curricular activities constitute the core components of the selection process. The IMI Kolkata Admissions Committee reserves the right to modify these components while communicating these to the applicants at the Individual Assessment stage. The overall objective will be to identify and assess the candidate’s potential for a managerial career.
Personal Interview
The last stage of the procedure is the Personal Interview round in which students are evaluated based on their knowledge of current events, oral communication skills, domain knowledge of their degree, and work experience (if any). This is an extensive session with a panel that includes representatives of the faculty, business houses, and alumni. Students are also assigned a topic for the extempore round, which assesses their ability to think on their feet.
Applicants should note that mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria may not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IMI Kolkata. IMI Kolkata will not entertain any correspondence on this subject and decisions of the IMI Kolkata Admissions Committee will be final in all matters.

IMI Kolkata Tuition Fee Waiver
All students whose total family income is less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum shall be eligible for Scholarship under Economically Weaker Section. Applications for Tuition Fee Waiver under Economically Weaker Section shall be invited from the students after they have been admitted into the programme. Any student joining PGDM 2026-2028 batch who is desirous of claiming the tuition waiver should apply to admissions office ([email protected]) before due date as will be intimated by the institute, with a copy of the income tax returns, PAN number, Certificate issued by competent authority appointed by appropriate government. Requests received after due date shall not be processed. Please note that all Applications for Tuition fee waiver (under economically weaker section) shall be collected and processed at one time for all such applicants. Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The Postgraduate Programme in Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Admission/Selection Process for Candidates for MBA at IIM Ranchi is through CAT. The selection of the candidates for admission to the PGP at IIM Ranchi is a two-step process.
The Postgraduate management programme is full-time residential. It is divided into six terms, spread over two years. The programme’s first year enables students to develop a fundamental understanding of different management areas. The second year comprises specialised elective courses from various management areas over three terms. The students must compulsorily complete a summer internship project for eight weeks between the first and second years. Students who want to acquire a deeper understanding of any topic or explore a topic in depth can also pursue a course of independent study under the guidance of a faculty member.
Register and apply for CAT exam by paying the requisite application fee for the exam. On the page 4 of CAT application form, you need to select IIM Ranchi MBA and other programs and select the interview city. Your application for IIM Ranchi admission is submitted. You do not need to apply and pay separately for IIM Ranchi Admission. After declaration of CAT exam result, you can check at IIM Ranchi as well as IIM CAP website whether you are shortlisted by entering your CAT registration ID and password
- IIM Ranchi Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- The candidate should appear in CAT exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to be considered for shortlisting.
- Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for Admission.
In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Common Admission Process (CAP) comprising Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. Detailed Admission process is as below:
- The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for CAP round which is the common PI round for CAP participating IIMs.
- Candidates are shortlisted from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme
- After the PI round, IIM Ranchi will award weightages to various parameters and admission offers are made by IIMU to successful candidates.
- The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in CAP round, academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, work experience among others
- Admission offer letter would be sent to all successful candidates. Candidates, who are offered admission, need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the required formalities by the stipulated date.

Doctoral Programme in Management
The Ph.D. programme of IIM Ranchi has the objective of developing outstanding scholars for teaching or research careers at business schools/universities or management research institutions or careers in Government, industry, NGOs or for that matter any organization that requires advanced analytical and research capabilities. To accomplish this, the Ph.D. will seek to admit students who have a strong academic background, are highly motivated, and who have the intellectual curiosity to undertake original research and provide them with knowledge and research skills that can make them specialized researchers with sufficient depth of knowledge in the various existing and emerging management knowledge domains.
Ph.D. in IIM Ranchi is an academic programme, which may require a minimum of four years to complete. Students have to undertake first two years of rigorous course work, followed by at least two additional years for completing the research work with dissertation. The first year of the course work is common with IIM Ranchi’s Post Graduate Programme and is aimed at providing a participant with a broad understanding of the field of management. The Second Year of the coursework is to ensure that candidates develop deep understanding in their knowledge domain and ability to do rigorous research in their chosen area of specialization. The Area Comprehensive Examination at the end of the second year is designed to assess whether the candidate has acquired requisite level of proficiency in his/her area of specialization. In the subsequent years, the candidate works on the doctoral dissertation which is expected to be an original contribution in the area of management.

The Doctoral Programme in Management requires a minimum of four years for completion. Doctoral students must complete two years of rigorous coursework and at least two additional years dedicated to research work. The first-year coursework is common with the MBA programme. It enables the students to develop a fundamental understanding of different management areas. The second year of the coursework comprises specialised doctoral-level electives that help the students develop a deeper understanding and ability to undertake rigorous research in their chosen area of specialisation.
After completing the coursework, doctoral students must demonstrate their capability of conducting research by a Comprehensive Examination aimed at assessing the knowledge gained in the area of specialisation. In the subsequent years, the students work on their thesis, which is expected to be an original contribution to the specialized area of management. The thesis is evaluated in internal and external thesis defence.
Candidates who fulfil the above eligibility criteria can apply online. They are also required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified in GATE, GRE, GMAT and NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization.
A candidate for the IIM Ranchi PhD programme must have one of the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with first class (or); B.Tech/4 Years Degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent (or), Any professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CS with a B.Com/Degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average.
- In addition, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent) in all their public examinations starting with the secondary level. Work experience in industry or academics, though not mandatory, will be given due credit in the selection process.
- Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the programme will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree
- A candidate must not be more than 55 years of age
Step-1: Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria should submit application.
Step-2: Candidates are required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified in GATE, GRE, GMAT and NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization. Scores of any of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years will be considered valid for the admission in Ph.D. Candidates who have already obtained a one/two year full-time classroom-based Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or in any specialized area of management (e.g., PGD in HRM, Agri-Business Management etc.) from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent in last four years preceding the admission year are exempted from this requirement, and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.
Step-3: The candidates short-listed on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above will be called for a seminar and personal interview for final selection in April/May and the successful candidates will receive admission offer.
